There isn't a problem with lead hype. Lead hype is appropriate. The problem is that you believed the oil hype.

Tried oiling once, definitely not worth it in my opinion.

I think condition matters a lot. I’ve handled less leaded chips than many others, though. My AM $5’s are great, $1’s can be a little dicey, but are in worse shape. I also wonder if my cleaning technique has somehow comprised them.

It's easy....clean them again with mild warm soapy water and don't oil them (or just the rolin' edges very lightly)

Give it a game or 5 and than assess them....if you don't like 'm, leaded formule is not for you.
And fyi, even for the leaded chips, just broken in to buttery smooth is perfect...mint chips need about 10-20 (chipper) games before they are broken in.

I US bathed my worn bike tired leaded shaped inlay 5$ as Im less worried about ruining them but it's had to leave before handling them.

I get it that dawn will carry away oil. Makes sense that.

Without oil some chips were spotted. Oil spots dark, chalky light. I oiled them to get a consistent color.

Worth mentioning that Christy and Jones THCs aren’t leaded.

Truth. C&J never used lead in their formulas, from what we can tell.

But they are special because they are rare. They were in business maybe 7-12 years? Playable sets are hard to come by, and I've seen maybe 3 of them in my whole time here.
