I have been offering roulette as one of my tables for rent for the last year. As a quick and dirty way to offer it, I simply made an insert that sits inside of my poker tables with a roulette layout and plop the wheel on top. It worked well for the last year, people really enjoyed it. However, I was never happy with the end result so I decided to build a full size table. It doesn't have all the glitz and glamour of the casino tables but it will do a great job for my rental events.

Old roulette table:

New table:

The vertical skirting is a steam bent piece of white oak. There's still a few spots that need some stain touch ups but it's pretty much done. I have a league game coming up on Tuesday where I hope to break it in.

That's a got a hell of a lot of glitz and glamour considering it's a portable table. Outstanding job as always, Tony.

It does strike a small pet peeve of mine: suits themes for games that don't involve cards (and the related dice theme for games that aren't craps)... I will give some leeway since it's part of a full travelling casino, though.

JMHO... the extra table space around the wheel is gonna get drinks sat on it... I might put the skirting around that area too to prevent that.

Regardless, still outstanding execution.

That end is normally reserved for the dealer. Player positions are at the other end. Drinks notwithstanding you don't want players sitting on top of the bank.

Yeah the casinos usually have a tall plexiglass barrier there to prevent players from reaching into the wheel as well in that area. Maybe I should put up spikes in that area like on statues for birds. :ROFLMAO:

I'm not too worried about that, and yeah drinks will probably end up there but that's ok.

The dealer is going to stand across the wheel in front of the chips. The spot near the wheel (in my experience) is usually taken up by watchers, not players... Watchers with a drink in hand...

I just have to be very careful that players don't spill their drinks on the wheel itself...

Had a league game last night and among my players was a former roulette dealer so he gave it a whirl.

Nice table!

Did your croupier find the tall sweep rail helpful, or did it get in the way?

Why are the numbers vertical instead of horizontal?

Easier for players to read. They need the most help.

Holy crap! Your players did not give him an easy time with the inside bets... splits, streets, corners, a double street, trios... I see everything but a top line bet! (Is there anything else possible to bet inside?!?)

He didn't actually say anything about the tall rail, I didn't occur to me to ask. He didn't complain though. I might lower it though since it is a bit tall in the section in front of the numbers.

Indeed he put himself through the grinder. He asked for it though, requesting lots of bets to be placed and he placed a lot himself. He really enjoyed it and might even become a relief roulette dealer for me at my rentals.

The table's been put into play a few times, 'tis working quite well. It was a little low so I added some spacers between the legs and the table and added some latches so that the table can be taken off the legs very quickly when loading and unloading at rental events.

I love that it has lots of room to scoop the chips to sort and stack them. The high wall along the side hasn't been an issue at all, I'll probably leave it rather than trim it down.

It's back in my showroom now, off the legs against a wall as it's taking a break until my next casino night rental gig in late August, then it'll be back in full force come winter.

Beautiful table!

You should add some brass finials around the wheel!

I'm planning on making one myself -- shipping to Alaska prohibits buying one.

Few questions...

How did you do the curved wood? Was the curved section one piece (steamed) or?

What are the over all table dimensions and the play area?

Do the bottom legs disassemble for travel?

What would a custom layout/felt like that cost?

20" wheel?

Chip counts -- looks like 6 colors @ 200 per, but what & how many denom cheques are you using?

Thanks Denali. That's a great idea with the finials. I'll probably pick some up and add them to the table which might help discourage people from placing t heir drinks around the roulette wheel area.

Yes, the curved portion is 1 piece which is steam bent. When it straightens out, a second piece is added but that's just because it's too long. To do that in one single piece I would need a 14' board.

When you say the play area, do you mean the main area where players place their chips? Is so, it's 48"x25". I made the layout myself from scratch.

Yes, the legs disassemble. I have some briefcase style latches on each leg which allow for the quick release of the legs for the top to come off. The centre beam is also easily removable with an allen wrench and 2 bolts on each side.

The roulette layout costs the same as my poker layouts, $225. If you want the exact same one, then there's no artwork fee so $30 less.

20" wheel is $375-$550 depending on the style of wheel you want.

I usually put out a few stacks of cheques on the table near the dealer area in all denoms, $25-$5000. I usually give everyone $5k starting stacks to play, so occasionally I get players who are playing $100 chips, and hit big so I need to have the $5k cheques ready for them if they win more than I can pay out with chips. I make sure I have at least a stack of 20 of each denom, $25, $100, $100, $1k and $5k and occasionally $25k.

Thanks for the answers!

Yes on the play/chip area, but I also wanted to know the overall table dimensions too. If too big I might scale down a tad. I have a 18" (wood) wheel, but may up to 22-25" at some point.

Curious about the latching system, any pics of that?

I checked your web site -- amazing work!

The overall size of the table is 97"x47" with a 6" rail. I decided to omit the "bulge" for the dealer for chipping due to size constraints of my trailer.

The space for the wheel is bigger than it needs to be, I could probably reduce that by a few inches.

Sorry I don't have any pics of the latches, I'll see if I can take some photos next time I setup the table. But basically the table has some 2x6's screwed in underneath, and the top of the legs have another set of 2x6's so they latch to each other on the sides.

Thanks for the kind words about my work, I take a lot of pride in that.

Thank you kindly. Got another one in the works soon, just gotta get some other orders in priority done first.

I've been using this table (with Tony's kind permission) for my fundraising events over the last couple of years. This is until I fully design my own, which should be happening sometime late next spring after the newest Bond movie opens, No Time To Die.
