With and without flash.

IMHO Retro Red could be called "Archetypal Red", whereas Mandarin is a bit lighter and orangey and could also be called "Fire Red"

Mandarin is slightly warmer (more yellow), while both have similar color saturation and density.

What colors are you pairing it with?

I personally prefer retro red for all applications - it's just the most "red" color that CPC offers.
Exactly!
Ironically, in two custom sets, I used the darker "Red" which flirts with Burgundy.
For the Athenian Owls I wanted something ancient-ish, while for the Horseshoe Pesta 1895 I needed an "autumn chip".

Edit: I always fantasize about an orgasmic Cuban set, to be built around a Retro Red $5, in another life.

I have a set from Puerto Rico and all THEMOGH says is “red”. But it’s sexy

Not a CPC color, though. It must be BCC?
Needless to say that if Greek Key were available as a mold by CPC, the Athenian Owls would have been made on that mold.

I actually asked David a while back and he said they were made by their predecessors when they were known as The Burt Company. They were made for B.C. Wills.
Best mold IMO.
