Wanted Reno Hilton Tournament (1 Viewer)

Sorry for sounding like a broken record but my wanted ad’s keep closing for lack of activity.

I have been working on this set for several years now. New chips have slowed to a trickle.

I’d love to get the following to help make the set more useful. It may never be “complete”.

I know there are at least two or three people who have small sets of these but they are not willing to give up on them at this point. This is the biggest that I know of.

I need 34 t100’s (black) 98 t500, 7 t5000 and 6 t10000. Or… as many of each as I can find

In all seriousness, I believe they were sold a singles on eBay in past years and a couple of members bought most of them.

If we scraped together all of them there may be a rack.

But like most chips, there’s probably racks somewhere that just have not surfaced. I found four racks of the T1000s at the convention in 2019 which kicked off my obsession… The seller also had 100’s but no other denoms. I got lucky with a few eBay sellers and @Godzilla28 for the high denoms.

I would love to know how many and how they escaped from the casino.

Huh, so there's brown and black hundos? Looks like different runs? Fat and skinny denoms?

Yes, there is a butterscotch 100 and fat denom t1000. About 80 of my t1000 are fat denom.

These were used in a live WPT event. That by itself is pretty cool!

how they escaped from the casino.

Usually all the NCV chips stay together and aren't destroyed after casinos close. Most of the cash chips would be destroyed because they have a cash value. NCVs being "no cash value" chips means that there is no need for them to be destroyed in the state of Nevada. Probably sold in an auction after it closed similar to what happened with the Lakeside Inn chips from last year.

I'm finding it hard to determine the dates these were used because both ChipGuide and the Chip Rack have the NCVs used at both place which could be true. Simply because it says Reno Hilton and both times it was open in Reno that's what it was called. Either way.... It doesn't seem like they were used much either which is surprising. Reno Hilton was open from 1981-1989. Surely they weren't used much and who knows how often they had tournaments. Then, the newer Reno Hilton closed in 2006.

Funny thing... I just found this online, "During the 1980s, Reno and Lake Tahoe alternated as hosts of the second-largest poker tournament in the world. "Amarillo Slim's Super Bowl of Poker" was played at the Reno Hilton and Caesars Tahoe numerous times."

Reno, Nevada...the "biggest little city in the world"...the place where tournament poker was born.

I bought a bunch of lots from a previous eBay seller who grouped them with cash chips, non-paulsons, etc...and bought a bunch as singles. Spinettis had some also that they were selling as individual chips at a high price. Most had sold by the time I was willing to spend that much. Total pain to find and collect.

I was originally trying to use the high denom Reno Hiltons to play with Aztar solids, which were only made in low demons (and are also frustratingly rare).

#94 Has arrived. I started working on this set in June of 2019 after finding 4 racks of the t1000’s and 140 t100’s at the Las Vegas Convention. The hunt continues.
