I overheard a player at my game on Thursday quietly talking to the player next to him about how I was having yet another winning night. Jen’s simple reply was he is a very good player.

Hearing that got me thinking when was the last time I did have a losing night?

I was keeping detailed records for a while but the app I was using crashed and the data I had up to that point was lost.

But by my best recollection I have had 6 losing nights so far this year. I play at least once a week and on occasion I’ll make a trip to the casino for an extra game. So on average I’ll call it 6 games a month.

So 9 months of games comes to about 54 games this year with 6 of them being losing nights.

This comes out to an 89% win rate. This is by far my best win rate of any year and I don’t know if this is sustainable long term.

So if you are a winning player, how often do you have losing night on average?

26 to 30 cash games a year, I've lost in 6. So that's what? 80% or so.

I'm no where near 89 percent win rate. If I had to guess I'm somewhere between 60 and 70 percent.

I do usually win more on my winning nights then I lose on my losing nights though.

I think your rate of winning sessions is much less of an important stat then your win rate per hour etc.

I would think that your style of play has alot to do with your session win rate.

I agree completely with you that hourly win rate is much more important than number of wins. For example, Jen the big winner at this past game doesn’t win as often as myself, but her hourly win rate is probably very close. She is a bit more of a gambler at times so she has had several big wins over $3k, while I haven’t had any.

But the fish in my game don’t make comments about here because she has more losing nights.

i won the last 29/32 cash game i played. I am a casual player so i dont really think of hourly rates, as I play at multiple different stakes from as low as 25c/25c to $2/$5.

Degrees are important though too. I usually win at cash games, but the wins are sometimes marginal. Those occasions I go down I tend to go down big.

Tracking my home games (tournaments), I cash 34.3% of the time, and bink 10%. Median attendance is 17 players, and we pay out roughly 30% of the field.

So basically, I make just enough to cover the cost of dinner for my players.
I'm exactly 0% for my tournaments this year.

I haven't been tracking home games this year - though now that my game is playing a bit bigger, maybe I should. :bigbucks:

In the casino, I'm winning 80% of my sessions so far this year. I haven't figured my hourly though. (Note to self, stop using Google Keep for tracking.)

I use Poker Bankroll Tracker on my Android phone, works great!
