I’ve always wondered if there is an auction company that handles casino supplies such as chips or table game layouts. Let’s use The Jack Casino chips from the Detroit casino as an example. are those auctions open to the general public?

Many but not all of them are sold by a vendor here. The sales are circus events and for the following month the horse trading is a bit unbearable. But some nice chips find their way into circulation.

The short answer is no.

All jokes aside, the vendor here on PCF, The Chip Room is the only entity that I know of doing this at this scale.
I would imagine it could be done by others, but I reckon there is an ENORMOUS amount of stuff that goes on behind the scenes. From having all the right connections in the business, to having the massive capital upfront for the purchase, to having the legal representation, to getting the trust among these casinos corporations, etc.
I cannot imagine the casino companies (or their liquidation companies) that are looking to unload the chips will trust just anyone. They would likely rather deal with a buyer who has done this before, can guarantee payment, and can dance the legal foxtrot.
I’m thankful we have the Chip Room here on PCF.

And… have the transportation, barrels, manpower, shipping materials, PayPal know-how, inventory management system, accounting, etc.

Yeah there’s probably so much going on behind the scene we never see/know about - probably for the better
