I do believe that the pool of buyers for commodity chips, or non rare chips, is to small and colusionary for auctions here to be an effective tool.... ie. Auction: 5 Racks of DoDo bird casino, starting bid $1.00
Shortly after listing: PM: Hey there, I only need 2 racks, I saw you bid if you're willing we can split. True Value Unrealized.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying its wrong, just an observation.
For limited Rare chips or racks I think it's a good tool when you're not sure of value but I'd be careful of the $1 starting bid as a seller.
On
eBay auctions draw a much larger audience but they are also colusionary in nature as I have noticed some sellers selling certain chips and they go for 5-10 times what the exact same chip from another seller do, sometimes in better condition go for.. 1 case, a popular seller who's name has to do with felines had an orange Redfield that sold for upwards of $70 and, at the same time, another seller had a pair of orange and a green in way better condition didn't even get a bid.
I've purchased chips from auctions on
eBay at 1/2 the price as the cat while always getting outbid on her auctions. Recently the cat was away and I landed some chips at very low prices from them.... is a friend bidding up for them? is this couple bidding up their own things? Needless to say I have put the personal ban hammer on this couple as I simply don't trust them.
