Here is a free google sheet that anyone can access that will calculate tournament payouts!

How to use, Only edit the boxes with yellow in them, Blue / Green are going to be your totals.

you should be able to edit places paid, and the % for payouts as you see fit
edit: (maybe you can? I didn't request edit access)

it will auto change the places paid based on how many players

This is great! Was just playing around with my own version but yours looks much cleaner! Thanks for sharing!

@krafticus - What do you do with the extra $10, if/when you have it, give it to 1st?

the way mine works, it just rounds each place either up or down, no lost money

I played around with scenarios, one example where the rounding has a flaw is below:

You end up needing to pay out $10 more than the prize pool.

Buckeye, for say up to about 30 players, how many payouts?
How many players for 5 payouts?
How many players for 6 payouts?
How many players for 7 payouts?
How many players for 8 payouts?
How many players for 9 payouts?
How many players for 10 payouts?

I like the concept. I've toyed with something very similar.

Ill try to sort this out
I have a big spreadsheet (slightly larger and more complexities than this one), you want to set the top prize to the prize pool minus all the others.

Most home game hosts say 20% or more. I've seen 20%, 25%, and even 33%, but I think any higher than 25% is too much. I think the majority of hosts here pay 20% of the field rounded up.
