Here is a free google sheet that anyone can access that will calculate tournament payouts!

How to use, Only edit the boxes with yellow in them, Blue / Green are going to be your totals.

the way mine works, it just rounds each place either up or down, no lost money

I played around with scenarios, one example where the rounding has a flaw is below:

You end up needing to pay out $10 more than the prize pool.

I have a big spreadsheet (slightly larger and more complexities than this one), you want to set the top prize to the prize pool minus all the others.

Most home game hosts say 20% or more. I've seen 20%, 25%, and even 33%, but I think any higher than 25% is too much. I think the majority of hosts here pay 20% of the field rounded up.
