The Four Queens $100 got a free pass here, past the quarterfinals, because he produced such a blowout in the prelims. Can he do it again? Pick up to 2 chips.

If this was the World Cup, this would be the group of death. I'd pick any of these 4 chips above the 4 in the other semifinal group.

Here's my shout out to get out the vote on the Empress secondary! I think maybe the dark black in the photo above make it hard to see the hat & canes on the mold, but the chip is stunning in real life. The Grand Casino $100 is just a wannabe Empress $100. (I don't know which came first, and I don't care.) Go Empress!

On what planet can that empress inlay compete with the grand casino?

Inlays aside, the colors of the Gulfport win handily over the Empress. Canary >>> daisy and sea green > Indian blue.

It depends which on Empress. There’s at least 3 variations depending on whether the LCV or SCV. The LCV are pink instead of hot pink, and the SCV are hot pink, but some are Indian blue and others are sea green.

I think the Grand Casino Chip tried some semblance of chip security with that weird gold chicken wire crap. The inlay is the same, but the chicken wire is NOT present on the $1.

Doesn’t really matter much, they are both getting taken behind the woodshed.

It’s an old security feature for higher denomination chips with textured inlays.

Too bad that people can't really see the hot pink in the Empress. It's stunning in real life.

I'm not completely sure about the hot pink, but I'm pretty sure all the Empress green spots are "Indian Blue," just a different batch, slight difference in color.

There are even variations in the same colors in Paulson color sample sets, depending when they were made. I grabbed a screenshot of some old photos showing 2 different Indian Blue chips.

(Note to self -- test this theory on the Empress spots and Paulson color sample set using a blacklight, as I think the Pink and Light Pink colors are not fluorescent, while Hot Pink is.)

You're probably right, but I separated out 2 and 2 that seemed like two distinct green spot colors. One was very much Indian blue and the other one was very much sea green. I'll have to dig them out of cabinet.

The minimalist design! The clean white background vs the puking pot on what looks like a dirty yellow inlay! I don't hate the Grand but the Empress has it beat.
Fair enough. I don’t care for minimalist with inlays

All you people with your weak little 1/8 inch spots. Haven't you heard, long and thin goes too far in. Short and thick, does the trick . We need some fat spots love

Partial credit. Yes on being three versions:
  • SCV with Hot Pink
  • SCV with Pink
  • LCV with Hot Pink

Correct, for all three versions.

Could be batch difference but given the fact that they used two different shades of pink, it wouldn’t surprise me if there are actually two different shades of blue/green.

Pink vs hot pink

Here are 3 Empress chips, SCV on the far left, and two LCV in the middle. The SCV is pretty much a direct match with the Hot Pink and Indian Blue color samples I have. The pink spots in the LCV chip look like Hot Pink and Light Pink mated. The green spot in the LCV is closer to Pale Green, but could also be a lighter shade of Indian Blue.

And as @Frank pointed, out, the yellow is the more subdued Mustard color, not Daisy.

And under a blacklight, the color sample chips below have a range fluorescence from very to not at all -- Hot Pink and Indian Blue are the most fluorescent, Light Pink and Pale Green are not quite as bright, and Pink and Sea Green not at all.

And it's also interesting to note the security features/prints look different on the one SCV chip and the LCV chips I have. The LCV has a pattern of ovals that shows up in the background, which are not at all visible in regular lighting.

LCV with Hot Pink?? None that I've seen have the same bright hot pink that the SCV has.

Top 1, unless it is very close. Empress is in 3rd and not looking great to advance.

See post #26.

Your pics also reminded me that I forgot to mention that the SCV chips with hot pink have inlays with darker logos, too.
