PCF at the Movies (1 Viewer)

With an IMDB rating of 3,6 I’d need a compelling sales pitch to give it a go :)
Here's what I got: it is acclaimed to be the best worst movie you've ever seen. Other than that it would be too much of a spoiler, but I will say, you will get hours upon hours of entertainment out of this movie.

For those who didn't know, the actress posted an AMA that does not disappoint.

If you haven't seen Fear of a Black Hat, I highly recommend it. Pokes fun at the early 90's rap scene, similar to Chris Rocks CB4, but less well known

I loved the off-beat film Frank (2014), which is inspired by the fictional character Frank Sidebottom created by Chris Sievey.
It's weird in just the right ways, but the underlying story is great.

The 25th anniversary of Battle Royale was this year! Released back into theaters to celebrate it. A group of young Japanese students are brought to a secluded island to fight to the death. Last student alive gets to leave the island. Year after year, classes are selected as an 'experiment'. Each student gets a random weapon and is released into the region, and they have to decide whether they will 'participate' or not.

I just finished the audiobook after seeing it again, what a fantastic story. Incredible book and movie for horror and thriller fans. I still remember my jaw dropping seeing this in middle school, agh. I don't want to spoil anything but its much more than torture pron, I would advise both the book and the movie. There's obviously some similarities to The Hunger Games (which comes out 8 years later) but I found BR to be better in every way: grittier, better writing, better acting, better political aspects, and scarier. Soundtrack is wonderful and I am biased, the main character loves rock & roll and Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run".

A great movie!!!

I’m sad. My son has worked at the movie theater for the last 5 years, and I’ve seen a lot of movies for free over that time. It’s closing for good on Sunday, so we’re going to actually have to pay for movies now. It’s been a good run. The last ownership group (Regal) was the best, with free movies and 75% off concessions (during summer and the holiday seasons; 50% any other time) . 2 movie tickets, large popcorn (with free refills), and 2 large sodas would cost us $4.76 total.

Never heard of it, absolutely assumed it was a made for streaming movie and small cash grab by rainn wilson (a lil rel).

Pikachu face that it was a solid watch and how much medical professionals, specifically ems, fauned over its accuracy.

If the current US situations don’t have you depressed enough, enjoy this horrible, stark reminder of our medical system. It’s impressive how it manages to both completely p*ss you off while keeping you entertained, very well done.

trigger warning: obviously filled with medical situations, including but not limited to child loss

I’m super stoked to be heading down to Indy next month with my son to catch Dunkirk at the Indiana State Museum. It’s one of the few true 15/70mm IMAX theaters left in the country, and for a movie like this, the drive is a no-brainer for me.

Most digital theaters are basically like watching a decent streaming file on a big screen. A 70mm film print is a different animal and roughly equivalent to 18K resolution. Plus, the Indy screen is 6 stories tall, which is just wild to see in person!

Nolan shot almost the whole thing on those massive IMAX cameras, so seeing it on the format it was born for is a bit of a pilgrimage for me. It’s definitely the "correct" way to watch cinema.

I’ll actually be heading back there in December, too. I was lucky enough to snag Dune 3 tickets a week ago before they sold out in minutes!

Anyone else here been to the Indy IMAX or another true 70mm imax theater?

Saw Dunkirk in 70mm IMAX at Maryland Science Center when it first released. BEST IMAX experience I've ever had. The scene where Tom Hardy runs out of fuel is just gliding above Dunkirk was so crystal clear that I felt like was I actually there in the cockpit.

Live in NoVA and the closest 1.43:1 aspect ratio IMAX theater is at Udvar Hazy Air and Space museum. It used to have a 70mm film projector, but it's no longer functioning. So only digital (GT aka dual laser) projections there. Still waiting and praying for Dunkirk to have a return screening there one day, even if it's only digital.

Go to the Indy IMAX to watch it in 70mm.

Same goes for Dune 3 and Odyssey later this year.

Here's a handy, fan-made website to compare IMAX theaters. https://143190.xyz/database.html

Seems like the Indy theater and the Chantilly theater are similar in screen size.

That’s awesome, sounds like an unreal first experience with Dunkirk in 70mm IMAX. That Tom Hardy sequence is exactly what I’m hoping hits differently on a true screen, along with the ticking score and nonstop tension.

Definitely makes me feel better about making the trip to Indy (coming down from the Chicago area). Seems like one of the last places to really get the full experience. Unfortunately we don’t even have a true 70 imax screen available here after they closed the one at Navy Pier.

I actually got lucky and saw Sinners twice in 70mm IMAX down in Dallas recently, and it completely changed how I think about the format. It’s hard to go back once you’ve seen it done properly.

Rewatching Glory, haven’t seen in probably 10 years or so… incredible film.

Me and a buddy in high school used to always quote lines and shit from it.

We'd be sitting in class and start softly humming "oh my lord, lord lord lord, mmmm-hmmmm...yeah-yeah" or start stuttering as we say "sqq...sqqqui...squirrel huntin' colonel!"

Absolutely brilliant movie with a tremendous cast
