Those weren't used, they were abused.
I won an auction a few years back with some of those chips. They were by far the most worn-out Paulson chips I have ever seen, before or since. I literally threw them in the garbage, and considered them utterly worthless.

No, it's really not. They're not worth the postage to send them anywhere.
They were absolutely thrashed. The edges weren't just rounded into bicycle tires, they were worn to about half the thickness of a new chip. On some of the faces, there was no hint of the hat-and-cane mold left -- they were completely smooth. You can see that on some of the red chips pictured above.
Utter garbage.
