Going through my chips and discovered one that seemed double stamped. I can’t make out what it says. Anyone recognize the stamp under the starburst? Also, is this a common thing that happens? Poker chip newbie here. All comments appreciated.
I think what you have here is cancellation stamp over the original hot stamp. I can't make out what the stamp says, but this is somewhat common when casinos or card rooms change chips or close down.
Can't make it out very clearly, but it looks like three initials. Common for private sale chips from back in the day.
The Starburst overstamp is what's known as a cancelation stamp. Usually done when there's been an error made during a production run or for chips that needs to be taken out of circulation for whatever reason.
