Are there differences in thickness between Paulson RHC chips? As an example I am doing a solid RHC frac over label on these and noticed there is a very slight difference in stack heights? This is consistent when comparing my new solids to the other chips. It’s minor and not a game changer for me but out of curiosity and for future planning I was curious. I have some equipment at work which can measure the thickness to the decimal but it’s fairly obvious to the naked eye.

Mint reds vs slightly used blues?

Newer Paulson Chips are ever so slightly thicker than old leaded chips even in mint condition sometimes though, not sure if its a recipe change or new/worn molding cups.

I thouvht at one point @allforcharity mentioned roulette chips tended to be worn more when in a stack due to how they were used. Not sure if I am remembering correctly.
Not sure if that’s what we’re seeing here, but I too have been assured that roulette chips wear differently, which makes sense since I have some with nice looking edges that are around 21 to a barrel.

As far as mint Paulsons being a bit over 66.7/stack these days, I wonder if it’s just an issue of quality control. Any minor, even imperceptible warping will make that stack taller, right?

The reds have decent edges but not mint. Comparing them to the mint DIamond Jacks I would call them VGC casino used? The roulette chips also have pretty good edges and it almost looks like they are thinner from production but this is my first rack of solids so I posses no knowledge or experience lol

I was just curious and couldn’t turn up much after searching around a bit

Yeah, among the 8000 Cal Neva roulettes I acquired, a large chunk of them could fit 21 or even 22 to a barrel, but surprisingly very few flea bites. They were from the early 80s and could have easily been used for 10-15 years or more.

I suppose I should mention that they were all THC, not RHC.

Now I need to try my best to not let my OCD prevent me from proceeding with my frac over label…..

Funny enough, the over label might actually increase the barrel height slightly a bit that both barrel are going to be about the same.

That’s less than a fourth of a chip in a stack of 20? Geesh, I’d be fine with that. Nothing will be absolutely perfect.
Yup, that will almost not be noticeable in game.

They will play just fine. Most Clay even in Mint Condition will have slight issue like that.

If your OCD is that serious, you might want to consider Ceramic instead.

This is what I needed to hear haha I love the chips and was actually thinking about building a small solids set

I think that’s a very fair statement. I had a set of ceramics previously and complained immediately about stacking once I sold them for Paulsons. I’m slowly learning the differences and how to set expectations.

But that's bad because you are creating spinners
Now I’m a bit nervous the recess may not be deep enough lol

I have some left over labels. Wondering if I apply one just to check the depth. Maybe rub another chip against it to see if it catches an edge? It may not really be a big enough sample size tho. The chips looks to be in good shape tbh. I would almost say excellent shape. Which begs the question maybe they are a bit thinner out of the factory

Bit of an update. Using a few extra labels I had I tried over labeling a few of these roulettes

Upon closer examination the recess isn’t consistent on most of the chips. It’s hard to see in this photo but it’s almost gone at the top and still there at the bottom if that makes sense. Not a good candidate for an over label BUT……..a great candidate for a true relabel! So looks like I’ll build a small solid set after all but still on the search for some fracs for my over label set.
