Circle-square or Diamond square if I could vote for 2. I know I'm in the minority here but I really just don't like the E&C mold. The look bothers me and the samples I have seem so light and cheap<<<I know I'm prob. gonna rub people the wrong way here with that word but I am just not sure how else to describe it.

Yeah, some people swear by it. But I'm firmly in your 'meh' camp regarding the E&C. There are many other ASM/CPC molds that I like much better.... in fact, I rate it only slightly better than the hourglass in terms of feel/sound. Looks great with a circus or carnival theme, though. ;)

I decided to go with the circle square mold. It can't beat the feel of MD-50 but I like the extra space of the larger inlay area and I absoluty fall in love with the samples of Krony's Card Room. Moreover MD-50 is available with 7/8 inlays only and I really would like to get some "special chips" with 1 1/16 inlay. I have a Grand Opening and Year of the Tiger chip in mind.

As for the name Pat's Club and Casino, do you think other names will work better? How about: Pat's Card Room, Pat's Poker Room or Pat's Club and Lounge. Should I go with one of these alternatives? I don't like the word Casino that much. Other ideas?

Good choice with circle-square, especially given your future inlay intentions. Not my fav (diamond-square), but it looks good and plays well. Redbelly chips are a prime example.

Regarding the name..... I'd go with what you think your playing space most closely represents. Is it (in your mind) a casino? A club? A card club? A poker club? Is it a card room, or only a poker room? A lounge? Or is it just 'your place' (i.e., Pat's Place). Answer those questions honestly, and I think your best name choices will jump out, and mean something special to you.

I will change it into Pat's Poker Room. I think it fits better.
In the meantime I create a Year of the Tiger chip. Born in this sign of the zodiac and giving my nickname I thought it would be a nice touch to the set.

wow - i love that year of the tiger chip. really, really nice. how many total $5s will you order and how many of the special edition? this is going to be a fantastic set!

Not 100% sure. Probably 200 "normal" and 50 YOT plus samples of course.

tapatalking ...

Yeah, no kidding! I want a tiger chip if Pat is offering :D

I am so totally into getting samples of this set. YOT chip is awesome.

looks very cool in the mock-up, but hard to imagine it would come out as smoothly in person. i'd say leave it.

If you could get the fireworks - or something similar - printed on hologram/glitter foil on the inlay it would work better. But since CPC doesn't do that (last I checked) I would say don't do it.

For now I will drop the idea of a Grand Opening chip. Details of the firework are just too tiny when printed out.

Before I order could you please give me some feedback. There're still a few things to decide.

I'd like to use this set for our micro cash games. We usually play .05/.10 NLH with 5-8 players. The buy-in ranges from 5 to 10 Euro. The most used set is my Aztar Caruthersville set. I have $5's, $25's and $100's, so that we just convert the dollars into cents. I would have no problems to do this with my CPC set, too.

Starting stacks for 5 Euro are: 40x $5's 8x 25's and 1x $100. Yes, I like to have a large amount of chips on the table. :D In our last cash game (6 handed), I had 300x $5's, 200x $25's and a half barrel of $100's in play and it was great fun.

Which breakdown should I choose?

My initial thought was:
250x $5's
150x $20's
50x $100's
50x $500's

(This breakdown would also look good in racks or a case ...)

So for a 6 handed game I could give out 40x $5's and 15x $20's for a buy in of 5 Euro. If we are more than six I would go 20x $5's and 20x $20's for a 5 Euro buy-in. Everything about 5 Euro I would fill up with $100's.

Or should I go with black $25's instead of $20's. Don't know what would make more sense. In Germany we have 0.20 cent and no 0.25 cent coins. So I think counting pots or stacks doesn't become a big issue when using 20's.

For the look should I go with Dollar signs, Cents signs or a mix of both?

So three questions: Which breakdown? 20 vs. 25? Dollar signs, Cents signs or a mix of both?

I like the original denoms: $5, $20, $100, $500.

For the breakdown I'd go heavier on the $20s and $100s. More like:

200 $5
200 $20
150 $100
50 $500

But let's be honest, you're going to do an add-on eventually anyway ;)

I dont know shit about the chinese new year, i do know that a bunch of LV casinos to commem chips of it though. Looking on Wikipedia, it appears as though Year of the Tiger was 2010 and will be 2022 next.

On to the reason I am replying to this, this chip is awesome...if youre going for accuracy, it may be wrong though.

Hmmmm, now I want a chinese NY chip and I havent even placed my CPC order yet. (placing end of March)

GOD DAMNIT why do i look at this thread

Wow that is sick.

Pat, of the options shown and considering your use I would go with option E or F. Having a 20¢ or 25¢ is really just personal preference for you to decide.

Another option would be to drop the $ completely from option A/B that way the set may be more versitial.

Year of the donkey. Go for it! :D

My chinese zodiac is tiger and there's no date on the chip, so it can't be "wrong". I just love all the special chips the casinos bring out and wanted to have something special with personal meaning in my set, too.

The chinese letters in the red circles mean "Happy (Chinese) New Year" and the individual letter stands for "Tiger". At least I hope so. lol.

dunno how closely you followed my mockup thread. my idea is derived from my days on full tilt. if anything I would do year of the shark or year of the fish

^^ This. I'd just go with numerals, no currency symbols: 5 - 20 - 100 - 500 or 5 - 25 -100 - 500. If the set will be used primarily for cash games (and thus 20c), then go with 20. If primarily used for tournaments (and thus T25), go with 25. If you expect the set to be used extensively for both cash and tournaments, I'd probably get 20 and 25 chips (might even put 20 on one side and 25 on the other).

I made a decision. I will stick to my original plan and go with 20's and dollar signs. Leaving the currency symbols is a good option, too. I just like the look with currency symbols a tad better and it looks closer to the original Sands design.

I will open a sample thread for those who are interested in getting some cool chips. ;)

Thanks for all your feedback so far, it helped me a lot!
