Not Mine Palais des eBay (1 Viewer)

at the end of the ad:
“Another option for the buyer would be to relabel these chips. If that's desired i can help point you in the direction of some folks that specialize in that business.”

@bentax1978 lol

It's funny you tagged me, I was actually looking at that auction last night and considering the possibilities. Of course I'm trying to be good and not start any more projects, at least until all my currents ones are complete. We'll see how that goes. :whistling:

"5) The inlays don't have some lousy casino name on it - rather focus on the denomination"

Some people might consider this a positive. To me, it's always been the reason not to buy these chips. I'm a fan of casino chips, and though I know what these are, they LOOK like fantasy chips.

Those are mine. Glad you guys are entertained by the description.

Worth noting is that these are posted in the classifieds on this site at a discount. I will honor the classifieds price until a bid is placed on eBay

I always assumed Palais chips were fantasy chips. Never knew they came from B&M casino That changes how I feel...I like em more now.

@nezara was right about relabeling. I also agree with point 5 that the no city makes the chips better in this case. Were you able to sell your set?

Those 1s look fantastic. Makes me wonder sometime if I should be selling these. Well done!

Mine are still for sale. Have a member that's offered to buy in December, so we will see how it's looking then.

Palais was never a casino

casino in quebec is a state monopoly and those as far as I understand were tokens
palais des congres is one of the convention center here in montreal as far as i understand it was rather tokens to pay for stuff inside
there may have been a poker tournament held or something a few time a year but quite certainly nothing resembling casino activity

That’s the best explanation I’ve seen for the odd denominations.

Yes. Can we get the full story on these chips please?
BUMP, I am very curious as to the origins of these chips. So these are Canadian tokens used in a convention center? If any articles or reference sites exist, I'd love to read about it.

I feel like I heard at some time these were used as rental chips for charity events at the convention center. I don't hold that as fact though, and I wish I knew more. Still miss those chips...
I'm not sure the history of these, my searches tell me that the Palais de Congress is something like a convention center in Montreal and that CPIAAQ is the Center for the Promotion of Agriculture and Agribusiness in Quebec (not exactly, I don't know French)
The Palais de Congress is not a casino, it's a convention center. CPIAAQ, printed in UV on all the chips, refers to "Centre de promotion de l'industrie agricole et alimentaire du Québec Inc".

Hey buddy, it’s been a long time! Good to see you’re still around chipping!

That's also the story I remember.... and it came from a reliable source at the time, too, although I cannot recall who.
