Supposedly clay chips best runner-up to Paulsons? What are everybody's opinions? Anybody own them and care to share some pictures?

I like the Royal Card Room (43mm) from Apache better than the Majestics, personally. Better colors (IMO). But for what they are (China Clay, not real Clay), they fulfill a niche in the market for new, lower priced denominated chips.

BTW, China Clay are injection molded plastic(y) chips. Paulsons are Compression Molded (partially plastic, partially other stuff known as clay)

I remember playing with majestics for the first time and being impressed by how much better they were than any other chip(exclusivley dice) I've played with before. If I never got introduced to real clay than my appetite probably would be satisfied. I haven't owned majestics but I have owned royals, also made by apache. Those are great. If you have even a slight interest in this hobby I'd reccomend getting a variety of sample sets and explore.

"Hybrid ceramics" - are these more like Paulsons and less like Chipcos?
I don't think you can compare Paulsons to anything but a compression-molded clay chip. Classic Poker Chip clays are the closest to Paulson.
Chipcos were the standard ceramic chip for casino use for many years, and there's many that have emerged, from Sunfly, BRPro, etc.
The new hybrid ceramic chips seem to be made of a similar ceramic (hard plastic) material, but they have a recess in the middle for a high definition printed label. It is probably closer to a clay chip than any other ceramic I've felt, but it's still not a clay chip.
The real draw of the hybrids are the ability to have a high quality label, a good feeling chip, being able to make them custom to whatever design and colors you wish, all for around .50 per chip.

My first non-dice set was the Majestics from Apache. We all loved them, best improvement was the sound! Sounds almost exactly like Paulsons when shuffled.

Now that I own Paulsons, easily the biggest drawback is how slippery they are. I also do not care for the lack of edge spot progression. I also have a set of cards mold chips from Tina, they have excellent weight and are not slippery, but they have a much brighter sound when shuffling or splashing compared to Paulsons. And the colors and designs are endless with Tina!

 You  splash  the  chip
 pile  ?
