NIAGARA FALLS CASINOS & SIGHT SEEING!! (1 Viewer)

It's been 15 years or so since we we're over there. A few things have probably changed lol

I'm not sure if it's still there but had a decent dinner with a great view at a place called The Keg.

Are you staying at the actual Fallsview casino or the Hilton? The Hilton is cheaper per night and still attached via a walkway. Both hotels are comparable as a far as room/service/parking goes. The first thing you'll want to do is go straight to the Player's Advantage Club and get your PAC card. This will get you free parking at either casino for free. As far as food places go there is a nice pasta place called My Cousin Vinny's with a great patio featuring live music on Main and Stanley. Or you can play it safe and go to the East Side Marios. The biggest thing to watch, and if you complain enough to have it removed is the "tourist tax". We have never paid this when we go.

Fallsview spreads $2/5 minimum. Casino Niagara has $1/2 I believe. Waits are ridiculous, can be several hours on weekends. Better off hopping back over the border to play at Seneca Niagara, which has free booze. The close by restaurants all charge ripoff prices as most of them cut a deal with the local hotels to give out vouchers. If you don't have a voucher, head into the city for meals.

Literally drive 5 min and prices drop by half. For a decent cheap breakfast check out

There is an early bird special if you get there before 10 am.

If you are looking to do touristy things then get the adventure pass. I think the Journey Behind the Falls and the Aero Car are both worth it, so get the full package.

Bird Kingdom is also pretty good.

The Niagara Waterpark is not bad, if that is your thing. Best deal is to get a package with a hotel though.

If you want to drive another hour and a bit, I can set up a home game when you are in town.

16 years since I was there, but remember these things
1) do all the tourist crap, Maid of the Mist, Falls view, behind the falls, aero car, some 1812 war monument that I cannot recall, something about kicking America's butt in a battle there. Have someone take your picture(s) at the falls, it is still one of my favorites. Looking up from MotM at the falls is a must see life experience.
2) food is stupid expensive for the tourists, try and find local eateries. Think I spent $120 for dinner for 2, maybe 2 drinks - at Applebee's or TGI Fridays. Normally, it would have been $50 in the states, this was 16 years ago, so maybe $70US now. Think Denny's was also 2-3x the normal price. Point being, eat somewhere down the road as suggested above.
3) bizarre transformation from US side, which is all natural, to Canada side, which is developed. Maybe this has changed, remember vaudeville like atmosphere after crossing the rainbow bridge, kinda like a beach town with wax museum and ripley's believe it or not type attractions.

Have fun and take it in,

5 days? We should definitely set up a home game. You should also check out when the Blue Jays or Buffalo Bisons (Jays farm AAA team) are playing.

Lots of stuff to do. Good thing we're there 5 days.

If you're into good food and wine, on one of those days, head north about 20 miles to Niagara on the Lake. Beautiful drive, gorgeous town, nice shopping, excellent restaurants and wine shops. Much nicer town than Niagara.

(Shaw Cafe and Wine Bar is one particular recommendation...)

True but don't get your hope's up as the town's main strip is less than a mile long. But worth a trip and hit up a few vineyards. I did have a fantastic appetizer there a few years ago, but don't remember the name of the restaurant.

oh yeah...if you have the scratch you could go to Niagara Helicopters. I think its around $120 for adults and $85 for kids. It provides a 10 minute trip around the entire falls and if you ask nicely the pilot will give you the "Classic Vietnam Movie" type landing. They are located 10 minutes away from the Clifton Hill area and are right across from The Great Wolf Lodge. Also a pretty awesome place if you have kids with you. But it is expensive! Down, leading away from the Fallsview is Lundy's Lane. You'll find all your restaurants (the Flying Saucer restaurant Moose mentioned), shops and a meh outlet store mall. Our outlet malls aren't like yours. Our stores offer little to no real discount. Just an opportunity to buy last years shit at last year's prices...On a side note, if you are spending 5 days here; For the hour's drive you may also want to buy a Toronto City Pass. You get free admission to the Aquarium (awesome!), Royal Ontario Museum (very good) Toronto Science Center (over rated) CN Tower (Pretty frikkin' cool), Toronto Zoo and fairly certain it offers discounts on various eateries.

Fallsview kind of sucks IMO. I've seen some rules violations and things that make you go hmmm... there. Just my opinion though.
