Hey All, First post, newbie here so lets not flame out the new kid on the first day... LOL!!

Kinda new to this whole new personal chip thing and looking at custom Clay, they can get really pricey.... Has anyone on this board ordered or have experience with buying higher quality, custom 39 or 43mm chips from China?

This is a caveat that they need to be of really good quality/American made chips?

I read threads about how the top companies are now making their chips in Mex or China which is why its taking 4-6 weeks to get custom chips, so if that is so, is it possible for regular folk to create a relationship and get good chips at an affordable price?

Thanks for your input

You will get all the info you need here. People have extensive experience in all types of chips from all places. I’m a little confused as to whether you you Want fully customizable chips (edge spots, inlay, etc), which as far as I know would be from the American company CLassic poker chips, a site vendor here. Much cheaper would be “China clay” chips, which I believe you can get a “customized” label printed or as a sticker suck on, but not the same quality or clay or even inlay process as the CPC chips. So what’s your goal? And if you search and research a little, I think you’ll quickly find the answers to most of your questions?

The key would be finding a good manufacturer who will sell in llow quantifies I have starting getting sublimated wrestling singlets, hoodies, etc direct from China for one of my son’s and his buddies. I found someone where I can get high quality custom items for about 1/3 price they would be here. I would guess it is possible but will take a lot of work. Also be weary as some manufacturers/sellers will deliver goods that look good in images, but will be garbage upon arrival. I am speculating that your best bet would be to try finding a custom ceramic manufacturer. I was thinking about trying to find one myself. I am sure others have tried and can give greater insight. I am curious to hear what others say. Good luck on your quest.

Admittedly, my post is minimally helpful, partly because there are many many types of chips out there, with many many degrees of “customizability”. CPC is not the only company in America that makes chips. It depends on what you want. I forgot the most important advice you will get once you’ve done some research, GET SAMPLES. But we need more info on what you’re looking for to give you the options.

There are only two companies who make compression molded clay chips any more:
- GPI (parent company of Paulson) where chips are made in a factory in Mexico
- CPC where chips are made in Maine

Currently, only casinos can buy Paulson chips from GPI so really that leaves CPC as the only source of compression molded clay chips for the home market.

China clays are not clay, just like a hot dog is not dog. And unless you're buying in commercial quantities you can't customize them. And the inlay is not an inlay, it's just a sticker.

The cheap chips from China you are hearing about are either plastic chips where they're custom printing a sticker for you or ceramics where you can get cheap chips but quality suffers.

I think the easy option for custom clay composite chips is CPC.

The issue with working directly with manufacturers in China is always quality control and communication. If you just want one personal set then dealing with an existing retailer is clearly the best option.
