Hi,

I recently inherited a collection of casino chips. The collection consists of many chips and many denominations, along with many slot tokens. I have not gone through everything yet but am looking for some general information in regards to their value. These are mainly from Las Vegas and all appear to be in good to uncirculated condition.

Question: I know there are a lot of factors that will help determine this (age, casino, denomination, condition, etc.) --

Thanks for any help that could be provided.

There is one pricing guide that exists. It has a reputation for being wildly inaccurate and chip prices fluctuate so much (not to mention I’m not sure how often they update it) that o don’t even know the name of it.

One easy way to get a ballpark idea of what chips are worth are to search for them on eBay and then filter by completed listings and you can see what they’ve actually sold for in the past few months.
The other place to check is @Spinettis Gaming https://spinettisgaming.com/ they sell more singles than anybody so it’s a quick one stop shop to find out what retail pricing is on a chip.

Like mentioned above, check eBay "sold" prices. Also you can post some pics here and we can help give you some ballpark $ or at least let you know if you have any or more expensive ones. Good luck!

Any ideas on a ballpark price?
Unfortunately, you'll have to do your homework. As the others have said, look up recent completed auctions (not listings) because you want to see what they actually sold for.

Otherwise, run an auction and see what happens, that's going to be the true market value at that point in time.

Maybe split by type? You could peddle singles off for eternity. Maybe one of the single sellers could strike a mutually beneficial deal with you?

Figure out what they would sell for individually on feeBay and add that up. After the work of listing them all and selling, individually, take off 20% and that is your net.

Alternately, take off 50% or so, sell it all in one bulk purchase, and be done. Your choice!

Ok. I will give my assessment, and while I won’t make friends with the numbers, I will share them anyway:

$1 each straight through is how I value the collection. The market for limited edition $5’s is close to dead. It’s nearly impossible to get face for them. They sit on this board with no buyers at $2 or $3 each. The pioneer chips help bring up the average, but the stacks of chipco house chips and Kansas City grand opening chips pull it back down. Unfortunately, it is the wrong material for the current marketplace.

I wish I had better news for you.

Wouldn't a couple of the more rare chips get the value up a little bit? Would take some work selling probably, but still. Like these:

However I'm sure you are right on most of them. Not the most sellable lot I'd assume, but depends a little on how much time and effort OP would wanna put into selling them.

Posting to www.thechipboard.com might also be a good idea. It's a really old fashioned website, lol, but more singles collectors there than here. Maybe you'll find some more interest there.
