Hi all,

New member here from the UK. Been playing poker for years and recently decided to get some new chips for our regular(ish) home game. This has very quickly proven to be a mistake as I have something like 10 sample sets currently in transit to my house from all corners of the globe. I'd be interested to hear from other UK members about their experiences of purchasing chips here but I'm sure I'll stumble across an existing thread that will do the trick anyway.

Good call on getting a bunch of samples. Depending on what you like, plenty of options for group buys or the classifieds here. The only sting is shipping to us in the UK, but you get used to that and built it into your costs.

Ah nice, yep not far. I'm in Portsmouth a few times a year for the Redtooth Regional Finals.

Also yep, nothing decent from UK suppliers for the most part, just cheap Chinese slugged chips. Sadly we just get stung with the US shipping costs.

Regional finals very much makes it sound like you're a considerably better, and more serious, poker player than me. A glance at those chip sets you've put together just confirms it, very nice!

Haha fair enough. It's only something I've heard about recently. Is it the one where its a small entry fee and you play for points in a league format or something like that? Based in pubs or something?

Yep, exactly that - pubs sign up to Redtooth and host weekly games. Each season the top players go to a regional game and can win a trip to Vegas

Welcome! I'm also from the UK and have experience to share.

I got my first set on here a few years ago, but naturally you're most likely going to have to import to get the chips you want, and the fees are extortionate (you have to declare the value or you won't get paid out if they are lost in transit).

I bought my first 3 or 4 racks from one member, who also agreed very kindly to allow me to order my other chips to him, so that he could ship the whole set to me in one go. It was an absolute blessing.

Prices of chips do vary, and it depends on the chip / the condition.

I do have a set I'm considering selling as I've just picked up a new set, and being UK based it could be of interest to you. DM me if you'd like me to send over some pics. I need to do some research for current market values - often popular racks used for Fracs can be quite pricey.
