Sitting Out
I’ve been lurking these forums for only a month and my wallet is already hurting!
Seeing everyone customize every little detail of their card rooms, from chips and cards to tables, has gotten me excited to start up my own club. I have no prior poker experience and neither do most of my friends. I’ve already gotten 11 people interested and another 8 maybes.
I learned from the posts on this very site to get samples before anything else. I’ve gotten setups of Modiano, Copag and Marion Pro cards and have Gemaco and Bicycle Prestiges in my cart waiting for pay day. If anyone knows where I can get Fournier, Piatnik, or Dal Negro for a reasonable price in the US, please let me know.
In terms of chips, I’ve received samples of ceramics, china clays, and plastics from BRPro, Side Pot, Apache, and ChipCo. The group buys are particularly tempting. I’m a graphic designer by trade and want to own work made by fellow creatives. I plan on purchasing fully custom blank chips from Tina then getting Gear labels made.
Next, I need to figure out how to fit 20 people in a shoebox New York apartment.
