Welcome to the forum . Glad to have you
as a new member . You will find helpful advice
here on chips that you may want to purchase .

Welcome to the jungle! I am giving you fair warning this place is a rabbit hole. You come here for the first time to get a review on some Milano's. Then 3 months later you are putting together a leaded inlayed THC mixed set at $10 a chip. LOL. Have fun and enjoy!

Welcome to the forum @Danbober ... we all have a starting point and we all love pictures. Nice to record where your journey starts if you think this is a hobby you are going to be interested in for the long haul. What I mean is that whatever you own now... get it out on the ththe table and snap a picture. Dice chips, interlocking plastics, it doesn't matter. Wish I had done the same thing so that in a year, 5 years... you can look back at the beginning of a journey.

My chips sucked! But to our family and friends they were referred to as "the good chips" lol

Unfortunately I didn't take this picture till much later, so while everyone will tell you get samples, which you absolutely should, also remember to document the journey.

Hard to believe just 3 short years ago I was teaching @FordPickup92 to play poker on a cheap Marlboro fold out table topper

Wasn't long before that tiny stack of casino used Paulsons and a bunch of cheap ABS plastic chips has now turned into meet ups for poker across the country and thousands of real poker chips!

My bits of advice here...
- a nice table and chairs, good lighting and great atmosphere will serve you much better at a home poker game than any $20 plus per poker chip ever will!
- rather than buying samples and putting out a bunch of money, see if there are any local members where you can go and check out their collection for free and save yourself some money!
- try to establish a budget, rather $100 a month or $5k a month try to establish what you can afford and do your best not to break it... while $5k in poker chips in a month sounds crazy, it really doesn't take long at all. Once those new drugs start showing up, you are just going to want more. It happens toall of us.
- lastly, if you are married... learn to get your chips shipped to work, your unmaired buddy's house. Believe me when those damn bubble mailers start showing up it can be brutal at times... another address where you can open them and not be judged for the ridiculous amount of shipping material is crucial! Haha

If there is ever any way I can help feel free to reach out via PM.

Pretty much…I started reading about what my best $200-300 options are and I’ve landed on skipping entry level and blowing up my budget on CPC customs or starting to build a collection of THC or similar racks to relabel…it’s the research and dreaming that’s most of the fun!

Great advice! Thanks Ben

Hi all - saying hello from Ontario Canada. I’m getting back into poker after a few years and want to set up a home game so I’ll be browsing the classifieds for some chips :)

Happy chipping y’all.
Hi and welcome from a fellow Canadian. I lurked for over a year before posting.

Excellent place to look for chips, curious to see what you end up buying...

You playing tourneys or cash?

I’ve typically always played tourneys but I wanted to try out cash games and figure I should start with a cash set if going Paulson or CPC and maybe China clays or ceramics for a tourney set.

I’ll definitely be seeking advice on here if going custom. Some amazing sets on here.

If you are that good at poker and want to drive a few hours (depending where you are) to Montreal, you are welcome to join our group! lol..
We have a pool of 30 players and play every 2 weeks, small stakes, no one is looking to break anyone, 60$-100$ depending... we have been getting between 12-18
Best initial advice, get sample sets before jumping in for a complete set...

I meant to say if you are NOT that good at poker.. lol... Kidding, we have all skill levels at our home game, makes it fun

Not quite yet so I’ll have to contribute to some posts when I have something to add. No rush…longer it takes the longer I’m not poor.
Smart move, especially if going for an expensive custom set. Gives you time to settle your thoughts and refine your vision. Cards mold ceramics could be a great, inexpensive, filler.

Welcome!

Don't forget the option of casino used Paulsons without relabeling them. The nice thing about this route is they are a little cheaper... but more importantly, they hold their value... so you can sell them for little to no loss after then next set strikes your fancy. Your tastes will change. If you go CPC customs immedietly, or even relabeling, you won't get your money back if you try to sell them.

Keep an eye out for the next Chiproom sale.
