My name is Lynn and I live in Las Vegas, NV. I see many many many poker chips daily.

I'm also interested in the community that sees them as collectables and valuable in ways other than just spending them at the casino. I wonder if anyone would have any requests for specific ones to be acquired for them also? That would be interesting! o_O :)

Can anyone tell me little more about what goes on here? Why people use the site? What are the hot topics? I know very little about this world!

Welcome aboard Lynn!

There are a bunch of collectors that specifically look for live Vegas chips, and would be ready to pay well above face value for ones in great condition. Some designs and chip molds are more sought after - Paris, Ballys, and the newly redesigned Circus Circus come to mind.

Welcome! Everything poker and chip related happens here! Buying and selling of chips, reviews, custom chips/tables/cut cards/dealer buttons, poker room ideas, vegas trips, poker games and meet ups, and much more!

There are many singles collectors here that acquire chips that are and valuable and ogle over them.

We also have many unrelated topics of discussion as well.

Hope you enjoy the forum and all the fun threads to read!

Cheers, Brie

Hi Lynn and Welcome!

Well this is a hobby site. We talk about all sorts of chip related topics. Manufacturers, history, their artwork, their composition, the different casinos they are from, and we buy and sell chips like addicts (and really, some of us are... LOL)!

Just click on the "New Posts" tab in the upper left corner and you'll see we talk about pretty much anything poker chip related.

Seems like everyone has pretty much covered it. Welcome! So you’re new to the chipping/collectible world, do you play poker or adjacent games, or host poker home games?

I’m always curious how folks come across this little corner of the world, as it took me years of buying generic store chips before finding this! How’d ya happen to find us?

Welcome friend!! We are always happy to see new members from Vegas!! I would say the number one most sought after Live chips are the Paris $1, 2nd is the new kid on the block... the brand spanking new Blue Circus Circus $1, 3rd we get into opinions at this point but probably still the New Strat $1 but the news seems to be wearing off of those a bit... always popular are the Jokers Wild Orange Quarters personally I love their blue $1 chips as well.

For the most part I would say the majority of collectors prefer Paulson (Top hat and cane, THC) molded chips over house molds (chips that say the casino name imprinted in the clay around the inlay)... like many use these days... but that doesn't mean that specific chips aren't desirable! All of the above mentioned chips are Paulson's on their THC mold which is most desirable...most casinos that use these chips are wise to chip collectors which makes harvesting more difficult. That being said your hard work can produce some profit as these chips are in demand around the world!

I hope that you enjoy your own chipping journey with us and start working on your own amazing collection, and that this doesn't turn into just a part time harvesting job... in our classifieds there is buying and selling but also an amazing trade section that could also be utilized if you do decide on particular chips that you would like to collect... some members may be willing to trade for your hard earned harvested chips for ones they may no longer need! I think before long you will get the hang of it!! Also with spinettis ( hmm how to describe... like a poker chip and casino nostalgia pawn shop... but so much more!!) in your back yard... these guys have a ton of chipping knowledge and very friendly and helpful!

Well as always my short quick posts turn into books! Lol we all look forward to seeing what the future holds for you as you start your chipping journey!! Feel free to PM with any questions If you need help!! Fellow chipper Ben

These are the new Circus Circus $1s that are in high demand.

I came here after they grey wall that once was hotdogsandwichrollersforum.com closed. I've found a few like minded individuals to discuss the ins and out of rolling hot dog sandwiches...

Welcome Lynn,
You wouldn’t happen to be an employee of GPI by chance would you?
Asking for some friends.
Enjoy the new world of chip lovers that you have discovered. We are one big mostly happy family here.
So how many many many chips do you see daily and from where?
Again, asking for some friends.
Seriously though, welcome aboard.

Welcome Lynn. We have a city named after you in a Massachusetts. It has a cool saying associated with it too. It is also the home of Marshmallow Fluff.

Haha! I love the "unrelated topics" angle. I tend to go off topic in every conversation I have *smack forehead*

Welcome to the forum!:)
Thanks yo!

Welcome to the forum.
With you being in Vegas get ready for a throng of requests for chips.
With that in mind.....
I am SO excited! lol

Ehh.... the last time this happened things didn't end so well.
Wait, why? Did I miss something?

Wait, why? Did I miss something?

The Cliff's Notes:

- new member from Vegas
- joined the forum, full of gusto for poker chips!
- offered to harvest chips for members
- took lots of money from lots of people for many "orders"
- started fulfilling some orders; seemed to have a decent reputation
- he started accepting more/larger orders
- then he disappeared from the forum for months
- came back, said he had some "life issues" he was working through and would "make things right"
- then disappeared permanently
- most folks never got their money back

I'm not implying you would ever do this, just giving you some background as to why some folks might be gun shy about sending cash payments to newer members.
