What’s the smallest set I can get by for a one table T5k or T10k tourney set?? 300 or 400 chips? What’s the best breakdown if I’m planning on using a 8-8-4-7 or 8-8-6-6 starting stack? Thx for input. I know I’ve seen various threads on this before but couldn’t find what I was looking for today

As an alternative, you can get 80/80/40/80/20 for deeper stacks and/or one rebuy per player
This is definitely the breakdown I would recommend.

If you are really trying to be thrifty, you could use starting stacks of 4/4/5/7, it does work but again, not what I would recommend.

So 20 x 5K chips. Yeah that might work. As long as I don’t need to buy in 25 chip increments

If you need to buy in 25 chip increments you'll have trouble having an efficient breakdown for 10 players. 8/8/4/7 means you need 100/100/50/75 (325 chips), and that won't color up all 25s and 100s, unless you find a stray 5000 chip. :-)
Only 9 players, though, and you'll save 25 each of the 25s and 100s.

A T5 base set (T5/T25/T100/T500, which is usually less efficient) with 100/100/75/25 actually becomes more efficient for 10 players if there's a 25 chip increment requirement. It colors up all T5s and T25 up until T1500 starting stacks, and almost for T2000.

I prefer the T25 base, though. :-)
