My First Vegas Harvest (1 Viewer)

I woulda thought you're allowed to go to the cage and grab as many chips as you'd like.

Never hurts to ask at the cage when they are not busy, but you will be told no almost all of the time. I once tried to exchange 4-$5 chips for 20-$1s at the Paris cage when no one else was in line. Was told no and that I should go to the tables. It never hurts to ask though.

Last year at the WSOP I went to the Rio cage and asked for one of the WSOP $5 chips for my collection. They come out every year for the WSOP. I asked for the newest one she could find. Several minutes later the cash attendant came out with another attendant and they had sorted through and put together an entire rack for me. I laughed and told her I only needed one. She said, sorry and took one out and sold it to me. So point being, it doesn't hurt to ask the cage for chips and every blue moon you may get lucky and find a cash cage attendant like her.

Oh in case your wondering this was before I found PCF and caught the chip collecting bug. LOL, I would have snapped that rack up today.

Oh yes I'm a total newb I know, but what Big Wheel are you guys talking about. Every Big Wheel I've seen has the electronic screen to place your bets and when you cash out you get a ticket to redeem your winnings. What Big Wheel uses actual chips? Or am I talking about a different Big Wheel?

If you walk through the pit area in Paris casino you will know what we are talking about. There are 2 big wheel games with a dealer there running the game. You literally can't miss them. One is by the entrance and the other is kind of tucked at the back of the pit area.

There is a live version. Usually at least 1 in the front of pit areas.

That’s awesome. But with respect, have you considered snagging some secondary market $5’s that are not live, which would cost much less than $5 each? The $1’s are a no brained tho, imho.

People will drop 4-5$ per chip on a non live fantasy chip here, makes sense to purchase 5s that you can get your money back on anytime.

When I was there the one in back was open all day. The one at the front of the casino, only open in the evening. That whole pit area in the front has girls dancing in the evening, so that is an additional plus.

Yeah I tried to find a pic online to show the fella asking but when I googled "Paris casino pit" I only got pics of the dancing girls....lol.

Yeah evening all the way to 1 or 2 in the morning is by FAR the best time to go. I needed to finish a rack on my last day so did some harvesting in the morning and it was painful.

Dang all this Paris talk is making me want to go back.

There is no better pastime for me than pounding booze and collecting chips.

So I just heard Paris may be wise to the wheel trick. They now require a minimum $6 bet instead of $2. @41Pickup just got back and relayed this.

I had a feeling there could be some push back. So many people hitting them hard for their chips.

Still not horrible if they let you buy 50 or 60 $1s. Might even be better if its $6 total (like 3x$2 bets or 2x$3 bets). If $6 min they should give 60 $1s no problem. It's a little hard to justify buying 60 $1s when you are only going to bet $2 a pop.

After 20 $1’s they give you $5’s I’m pretty sure

so here is a question i've been pondering.... how do you carry/store all the chips you're collecting as you're walking about? backpack or something? how do you ensure all the good chips you've sorted are kept separate etc?

I wanted to take my time to sort through the chips. I carried around a backpack that was mostly empty & put my harvested chips in there. Then at night I sorted through that days chips into keepers & go-backs. Keepers went in the room safe. First thing the next morning, I cashed in the go-backs & started over.

thanks for sharing all the tips and tricks. (y)

Just back from bezos event in vegas. Found good luck harvesting paris 1s at the Pai gow tables. There is an Asia version at the far right of those games and the dealer Susan had plenty of 1s. Gave me barrel per session with no issues. Got 2 barrels before leaving early this am. That table is 25 min and 5 bonus so the 1s were typically only used to tip for drinks.

I used a simple gift bag (sturdy small swag bag) that sits open between my feet. Sorted 1s at the table and colored up the garbage ones.
