My first set of non-suited/non-dice chips (1 Viewer)

Another CC Pharaoh's entrant here :)

Bought a 500pc tourney set back in 2010 (I think) after deciding Paulson and Proteges were too expensive, even though at the time the AUD was on par with the USD. Oh, the regret!

Now it's a 1000pc tourney set along with a 600pc cash set. I tend to use the cash chips for travel and the tourney set for bigger 2+ table games so I doubt I'll sell them :)

I had dice chips for over 10 years, then in feb 2016 got my claws into some majestics.

I have a set of Tiki Kings with UPS as I type - expected delivery Monday!!!
Bud jones hybrids will also be added to the collection.

And I think I have just thought of a concept for my future CPC set.

This was the earliest pr0n I could find, beginning of 2014. Most of the GV chips were from 2012, but didn't really constitute a "set" except maybe in my head and never hit the felt prior to adding the Aztars. I'm fairly certain this set as pictured did, although only the 5s, 25s and 100s.

I never actually purchased dice chips, but I almost pulled the trigger on The Mint or Milanos.

History of an addiction:

Second set of 1000 explosive 11.5g slugs - you'd think I would have learned, but no... (since sold):

Sry to quote such an oooold post but... searching google for pca chips -> images -> brings me to this post. Feel like traveling back in time. These were also the start into my chip-addiction. Still have them somewhere in the attic, could never sell

Thanks to PCF, I learned from the journeys of others. When I joined last year, I read probably the majority of this site, plus a bunch from Chiptalk. I ordered samples in China clay, ceramic, then finally paulsons. That did it. All clay for me.
I am ordering a small set of Iron Bank sunfly ceramic hybrids. That'll be my first non-clay set since the dice chips I bough shortly after the turn of the century.

My first "real"'set. Well, not really, but I have no pics from the first 2 sets. They were like China clay in weird demons. I had 2000 of them, then got the 14.5g Monte Carlo chips. Sold them, and got these:

Those are semi custom olive green 5k chips. After this, the bug was caught

I started with the red/white/blue bicycle chips. A couple of bucks for 100 chips lol. Upgraded to Dice chips. Below was my first serious upgrade.

My first custom cash set. When I obviously didn't have help with a denomination break down. Oh, and when they were just a touch cheaper lol.

I've had a ton of sets since then that I no longer own. Some I didn't even get into play before reselling them

Getting old = memory problems. :whistling:

I was pretty lucky, I went from dice chips right to Paulson Pharaoh's. I didn't know about the Blue Board or the group buy for them back then and ended up paying full retail from mutiple sites. Every month I would order a few hundred more until my set was about 3,000 chips total. I also got lucky and bought out a large set from a local friend that was part of the original group buy but had gotten burned out on poker.

He had even hosted a Chiptalk meet-up here in Cleveland many years ago.

I had those for many years before I sold them off and starting buying casino Paulsons.

Was that a two-table tournament with one table being a huge oval table, Barrett-Jackson auto auction on the TV and breaks when the owner had to head down to his cigar store to check on things?

You got it!! John's cash games are still talked about as legendary. We used to play 3 nights a week there. I started out as a pretty green cash game player back then, by the time the game ended I felt I could sit at a cash game in any casino and hold my own for sure.

Was this the one I've heard about where it was insisted that a double deck slows down the play?

For me there were the Dunes Commemorative chips I bought at Spinettis during a trip to Vegas back in Summer 2014.

I still own it. This a 320 chips set which can accommodate 10 players with starting stacks ranging from 1000 to 3000 or even 3500 on starting blinds 5-10 (or of course 5-5).

Part of this set, there is enough higher values to handle color-up.

Breakdown is:
- $5 x 100
- $25 x 100
- $100 x 80
- $500 x 30
- $1000 x 10

Dealer button came later.

I was in Vegas in Summer of 2014. I picked up a sample set of these but never did pull the trigger. Did you catch any of the WSOP main event?

No, just played some low buy-in tournaments. This was not a poker dedicated trip...

My very first set of non-dice chips ...from 4+ years ago. Fresh out of the shipping box. How times have changed since then
