For what it's worth, this was my favorite vendor sale of a hoard/find/purchase of casino chips ever.

Pick what you want, commit to purchase, and buy them when your name is drawn if they are still available. Just lovely. I did not buy any of those chips, because I don't buy smooth inlay RHCs, but I have great respect for that sale format. Nicely done @navels .

I agree with you. But I also don't fault any vendor for not wanting to create extra work for themselves.

Thanks for the kind words! I have to say, the reality of running a sale that way was a huge pain in the ass. I needed timely communication from buyers and many did not respond for days even though they were obviously on the forum. Some buyers did not follow through on their commitments. There was also horse-trading and line-jumping even to the point where an early buyer asked me to ship X to this person and Y to that person (I said no).

1) Ship exactly what is pre-ordered to one pre-provided address only, with small adjustments allowed (certainly no -50% changes, or +100%)
2) 12 hours to respond to a message or move to the back of the line
3) You back out, you get the BAN HAMMER lol

There are very few "quick" sales around here that I'd participate in, they're just not the chips I collect. And I'm getting too old for eBay style 15-second electronic melee combat.

100% agree, that was fantastic. “Fair” format, very up front with information, etc.

I do not enjoy the organization of a sale. It’s a lot of work, takes up space, makes me anxious, etc. So I 100% understand the extra work for vendors and I personally would be happy to pay more for chips in that type of sale than not.

If it’s a blatant free for all where I may get a bit of something and then need to hunt the rest down in classifieds, I don’t want to pay nearly as much from the vendor.

Just skimmed all 17 pages of the original sales thread . . . had forgotten how much fun it was at the time :)

I think I was like #91 out of 100, and I still agree that this was the best sales thread ever. Despite being such a horrible number, I still was able to build my absolute favorite RHC set over that year... The Santa Ysabels!
