I thought someone recommended to put new custom inlay stickers over the jack label tourney stickers rather than murder them.

I would absolutely love this bc murdering them sound tedious.

Anyone with experience yet doing this?

Are the chips mint or pretty close to mint?

That’s great. Are you going to do your tourney set @jrs146 ?
Fortunately I have enough of each I don’t need to for my tourney set. But I’m making a$0.25 chip for my grand Victoria set.

If you ask a significant number of members, my guess is the majority likes the results of inlay replacement better.

I personally favor label-over myself. Played with plenty of sets using both methods and I like the look of label-over better. There's other benefits as well, no murder, cost, changing your mind and selling the set, etc...

You can always try the labels and if not completely satisfied, go the inlay replacement route, although you'd need different size labels for that.

And inlay would require murdering them?

I think specifically for this set you’re better off with a label over. In the event you find the actual chips you need (which are out there) then you can revert back to the originals which is probably ideal without having to repurchase the chips that were murdered.

I’m happy with my chip count!

Going to order up some labels (and lab over) for trial and see if I dig it.

Seems like a lot of people take the Rio of WSOP design and make it their own. I too like that idea. Keeps the tourney vibe and I like the rainbow headline color scheme for tourneys.

Ahhh ok I thought you were going to make a matching label and relabel colors to get the denominations you need. Still I’d probably label over but my scenario I mentioned wouldn’t necessarily apply then!

Interesting, what reasons?
First just the murdering of casino chips isn't sitting well with me. I'm committed now and these will be my go to set from here on out but still wish I hadnt started it.

Its very time consuming, I ended up with bloody hands and some chip damage before I really got the hang of it.

and no matter how clean I removed the inlay they all seem a bit different in size so the labels dont look as good as I would have liked them to.

What cabinet is that? I like it
It’s absolutely perfect and reasonable price ($250) available at most Home Depots.

Top row (not shown below) fits cards, buttons, cash, etc.

2nd and 3rd row drawer height clears chips in racks.

Drawer 4 fits 3 racks stacked.

Drawer 5 storage!

That’s the “experience” feedback I was looking for. Sorry for your troubles, looking forward to when it’s done! Glad you got the hang of it, maybe the worse is behind you lol

Label over, please label over.
I have label over and am so happy with them. I’ll send pics.
and if your worried about them pealing off, don’t, they are a mother to get off and the inlay is unharmed.
for best results is mint to lightly used like the Jacks.
@jrs146 confirm yours are laminate because iirc those are for murder not label over because they are too thick.

Some unlamented (I think) labels on my GVs and some on some snappers that a chipper friend sold to me with labels that I’m removing that is a bastard to take off.

this is a pic below to show there still is a recess after the label and these are similar condition as jacks.

Ah yah I had a typo. I meant un-laminated. I posted in laminated o_O

reminds me of my favorite movie:
Ah, Dusty! Infamous is when you're more than famous! This guy El Guapo is not just famous, he's IN-famous!”

If the chips are hard to find and have a lot of value in their natural state, I would overlabel, in case you ever decide to sell (so someone could remove the labels).

If they are more common, and/or you don’t plan to ever sell them, I’d go with murder & replace.

That said, I have been very pleased with my Jack over label projects. There is almost no one except me in my home game who would ever notice the difference.

I don’t notice myself in-game (where I mix real and faux Jacks). It’s only on close inspection that you can tell what’s overlabeled.

There are lots of pics of my and others’ Jack RHC/IHC overlabel and inlay replacement projects here:
