Bright yellow for sure. Anybody have any info on the chances that this would ever even happen? I've been dragging my feet on a CPC set on the off chance that this might happen someday. I would snap-buy the set I designed if there was a "bright canary" upcharge option on canary that would provide a brighter solution similar to the difference between white and bright white.

I think I read a post from them somewhere stating that adding colors is actually harder than it seems due to chemical composition and such.

I'd say the chances we'll see a single new color in a years time is 10-15%.

The basis of this projection is of the "unsubstantiated wild-ass guess" method.

@David Spragg any info about that? Is canary yellow without brass flakes an option we can hope for?

Correct, and it was from the same guy who said tri moon spots weren't compatible with the type of clay they used.

It's not difficult at all. It's simply an investment they don't think is worth making. They just have to purchase a new pigment from their supplier and see if it works out after making chips with it. If it does, then they have a new color. If it doesn't, they're out the money for the pigment they bought and have to try again until they get one that works out. My guess is that dg yellow and dg saturn were both attempts at getting a good bright yellow.

I remember reading that thread and I think they said the additional cost for bright white was associated with needing to bleach the ingredients. I always wondered if they did the same process and added the canary pigment if that would yield a good yellow solution. I’d certainly pay the bright white upcharge for it!

Canary is weighted with brass flakes though. Any good bright yellow would have to be unweighted.

IMO, yellow chips are the most critical base color for every set, whether they're your fracs, your $5s, your $20s, or your T1000s. It's the single most important color to get right, and it's CPCs most glaring miss. I hope that someday they'll get a good one.

I have to agree with this statement 100 %. You can compromise with other colours being slightly off-shade but the yellow being perfect is a must. I think the reason being that other colours rely on good edgespot combinations to bring the chip to life. The yellow chip however is less reliant on this. I don’t recall many if any yellow chip not looking good

CPC offer 5 shades of yellow yet it seems none of them are the right yellow!

I received the full set of CPC colored samples on the A-mold yesterday and was disappointed to see just how far off all the yellows are versus what I hoped they would be. The only one I would even consider using as a base color is DG Yellow.

On the flip side, some of the colors are even better than what I was expecting.

Still somewhat troubling as I would want a yellow $20 in any custom cash set I build.

Bright yellow.

I just put in my order to CPC and bright yellow would have been an awesome base color to have for my set.

I'd like to see some new greens as well. Specifically a lite green (TRK version), and lemon green and/or lime green (Paulson version). IMO that is where CPC's color selection is truely lacking.

The color they call "orange" isn't bright enough. The color they call "Dayglow Peach" is closer to orange. So I guess I want a bright orange.

Although a bright yellow would be nice ;-)

DG Tiger is a pretty bright orange...

Fairly sure David said that the biggest hurdle for new colors such as BRIGHT YELLOW is R&D costs as the dyes or whatnot needed are either astronomical in prices for "samples" or are only reasonably priced when bought at the commercial level (think thousands of pounds of material). I think he said to even start thinking about R&D'ing a color would be $5k-$15k and there's no guarantee of success.

Hence... why more people have to take the pledge that if they win the lotto they'll fund his R&D :)

Believe me, if I won millions upon millions, I’d donate 6 figures plus to make that happen. Problem is, I don’t play..

Whatever color this is ROCKS!! I assume bright yellow-green.

From Paulson's palette what do you like better - Yellow or Canary Yellow?

I initially voted light pink, but I’ve changed my mind since comparing my Paulson colors (bottom row) to my CPC colors (top row). CPC definitely needs a better yellow.

(And light pink, and dg light blue, and lavender, and aqua, and bright red. :D)
