Title explains it pretty well. Due to, let’s say, marital disagreement (and budget restrictions of course), spending thousands on a full set all in one go is pretty well out of the equation. I also don’t have an immediate need for this, so just a fun collecting project it is.

Would like to source a LIMIT set of old casino Paulsons rack by rack over time, so I’m curious as to what the best candidate is to go after in a scenario like this. $1 work horse with a $20 high denomination works, as would $0.50 and $10, tonight I imagine that’s less available.

Thoughts and suggestions?

Horseshoe Southern Indiana chips seem to fit if you’re just looking for low denoms. There were tons available, so the prices haven’t gone too crazy.
There was a recent auction that was pulled because no one bid on the whole set, but they were offered at a buck each. Maybe you could score some of them by reaching out to the seller:

Finding $20 chips will be near impossible in quantity at a reasonable price. $25 casino chips are far more common. They won’t be $1 each, though

I would go to Vegas and every time you go take home a bunch of singles with you! It would only cost you $1 a chip, and you could go with a mixed set of several casinos or the same casino.

Also, several members here sell vegas chips!

How big of a limit set are you after? I have a couple candidates and I’d be open to monthly payments if that helps you. I understand your dilemma.

$1 work horse with a $20 high denomination works,
Finding a $1 work horse in RHC mold should be doable for a reasonable price. As for a $20 denom, most casinos don't have a $20 chip, but you could relabel another Paulson chip as a $20, like these blue/fuchsia Harrah's Pompano $2s for sale. Just a thought from a recent post I saw:

(search for threads about Gear Labels for relabel work)

Yeah it’s probably Horseshoe Southern Indiana because that casino had way too many $1 chips - they had primary’s, secondary’s, and a third set of $1s that were probably a mistake?
Anyway, not only are there over 100,000 of them out there, but they should be in higher proportions to the other HSI chips than necessary, so they should be available. I’d think.
