Hi, I have a friend who is looking to get a cash game 500 chip set. I understand there are other threads like this but I haven't seen one that is aimed at a set for 500 only and with the weird ass denoms we use.
Furthermore to complicate things, he usually plays 10p/10p blinds! Would that remove the need for a 5p and 25p chip? Meaning denoms of 10p/50p/1/5? (this may sound weird but I've played in 10p/10p games in my university days with these exact denoms and it works) If he moves up the stakes he would simply just make it 10p/20p.
So for this specific weird denom, my proposed breakdown for a 500 set is:
10p x 100
50p x 100
1 x 200
5 x 100
Starting stacks for a full ring table (at 200bb for 10p/10p):
10p x 10
50p x 10
1 x 14
= 20 total
Now I understand the normal denoms for microstakes uses 5p/25p/1/5 and so on, so in that sense, my proposed breakdown for a 500 set is:
5p x 100
25p x 100
1 x 200
5 x 100
Meaning starting stacks of:
5p x 20
25p x 20
1 x 14
= 20 total
That's all I have to say, please do let me know what you guys think of this unorthodox denom of 10p/50p/1/5. It just seems like the more straightforward option in my head. And do give feedback or thoughts on the chip breakdown and starting stack amount. I had a look on apache chips (majestics) for him that would seem like the most likely option, but if the weird denom thing seems to be in favour amongst you, I might shoot for relabelling.
