Great pick up, Larry!!! You're welcome!  I sent you a quick telepathic "Hurry, Larry!"

Edit: apologies if I got ahead of myself on who got the chips.

Larry, someone got you via PM by 1 minute.

OK, your call. But I'm sorry to hear that you're one who allows that sort of thing, Bert.

Regardless of how ethically the seller behaves -- and I'm sure you're one who does -- it does not reflect well on the community or the way we do business among ourselves.

Totally my fault for not stating method of communication in OP. In my book, I have to take the first person to contact me based on the ad. I'm truly sorry that you are upset. If there are guidelines set out by Tommy that are clearly stated I will of course default to those.

Bert

Absolutely not. A condition of ethics requires a duty. What duty are you owed? Maybe he didn’t like your avatar, or the PM was from a good friend of his. You don’t get what you want and wanna be upset, fine, I understand the feeling and have been there too. But citing these social obligations that we all supposedly have in order to feel better doesn’t fly. Same goes with for sale ads without prices. Seller prerogative, period.

Sure it’s a bummer to miss out on a great pickup like this but no need to dis the seller on their own thread cause you got beat to the punch and everyone doesn’t follow your declared social norms and rules.

Nice pick up, whoever the anonymous buyer is...and I am very surprised it took two full minutes! these chips at those prices should have been sold in less than 30 seconds...PCFers getting too slow? :nailbite:

Yeah, seller prerogative, but actions and methods have consequences.

To make it clear, I did not want these chips for myself, so I'm not "upset" at not getting them. I was buying them to make sure they got passed on *at cost* to someone who would incorporate them into a larger set, and not mill and re-label them.

If you truly view PCF as a "community", then "social obligations" matter, and selling via pm instead of openly within the sales thread smells to high heaven, not least of all because it's prone to manipulation and deceit.

When I see this done, both seller and buyer (if reasonably identifiable, as in this case) go onto my "do not sell or buy list". They're not the kind of people I want anything to do with.

Good to know. You're on my do not buy from or sell to list. Butthurt isnt a good look. Man up, someone beat you to it. All I've seen you do on threads is cry about dumb shit.

Larry, in case it isn’t 100% clear. Ad went up. First person to post got the chips. It just happened they posted via PM. No special favors, discounts, advance notice or any other form of favoritism in play. It was simple first come first serve.

It’s as fair as I can make it. Again, I’m sorry you are upset.

Bert, I'm not upset -- it's no skin off my nose, in any way. I haven't lost any money, or missed out on any chips I coveted.

But PMs are *not* posting.
