Hi folks,
We're looking at a large vintage hot-stamp solid set themed around the storied Mapes Hotel and Casino of Reno, Nevada.
This sizable set features the classic Diamond Square mold and the denominations sport non-traditional colors. Being made back in the day, the chips are not quite as thick as modern CPC's, (though not noticeable in the hand) and so this makes barreling them a breeze in any rack.
These chips are in great condition. The hotstamps are still very fresh and crisp, so much so that the stacking will actually benefit from some play and shuffling. The edges are very sharp.
The orange $100's are on a slightly different, but very similar vintage mold. Compare in the side-by-side photo.
Breakdown:
100 x 25c (maroon)
300 x $1 (yellow)
340 x $5 (blue) and extras
200 x $25 (white)
60 x $100 (orange) and extras
Extras:
60 x $5 (same condition as set)
40 x $100 (about 15 same set condition, about 15 have small flea-bites, 4 are outright broken, but included for display/educational purposes.
This brings the bank (without the extras) to over $13K (about 2K more in good extras), so despite being antique, the set scales very well, and has a respectable bit of "future proofing."
The set also includes a black 60mm ceramic custom Mapes dealer button and an original hourglass mold $5 Mapes chip (card capper).
No racks included, but these do fit with room to spare in the Broken Arrow/Justin Caruthers regular covered 39mm racks.
