I just acquired a cash set of ASMs with the following breakdown:

1: 232
5: 83
25: 91
100: 40

I’d like to use these for a .25/.50 after-work game. Between 6 and 9-handed, buyins $20-$50 (usually $30), with multiple rebuys common.

It will be difficult to add on to this set, but not impossible, including quarters. In the meantime I will use my Kenmore Lanes quarters, which are a reasonable match.

Questions:

1. How.can I best use this set as-is, assuming unlimited Kenmore quarters?

2. Again assuming I use the Kenmores, what’s the minimum I should try to acquire of the other denoms (and what should I give up in trade) to make the set more playable.

3. Same question as 2 but assuming no Kenmores, i.e. I’ll have to acquire quarters.

Thanks!
Lee

More $5’s. Other than that the set will work fine for 25/50c if you have quarters.

If you don’t have have quarters get Gear labels made for the 25 chips and convert them to quarters. 90 of them will work for less than a full table. Still need more $5’s though. And you’ll have trouble with rebuys’s as you’ll only have the 100’s to do so.

With the buy-in as small as it is, I see the starting stacks being:
12x 25c
12x $1
3x $5
=$30

This means that you are using 27 of the 83 $5 chips for buy-ins. You've used 108x $1. You have the following remaining:

56x $5 = $280 = 9x $30 rebuys
124x $1 = $124 = 4x $30 rebuys

before you dip into the $25 chips.

I honestly think you will be fine... unless the game is actiony (plays like $1/$2)... in which case your buy-in is too small.

Agree with the more $5s comments. The other denoms look fine, numbers-wise.

If these are ASM chips, CPC should be able to make you more $5s assuming you have permission on the artwork. They could also make you a rack or so of fracs. If this is possible, and in your budget, I’d try to make the set look like this:

100 x 25¢
200 x $1 (you have extras)
400 x $5 (or only 200 if budget is tight)
80 x $25 (you have extras)
20 x $100 (you have plenty of extras)

That’s an ideal, manageable breakdown for whatever your game throws at you, and plenty of room to grow/futureproof the set.
