I often find it tough to find places to play, as I'm still in school and have no cardrooms near me, and my friens are not into cards. I want to find a place to play that's low stakes, but any private games price me out. If anyone has had similar problems, lmk what I should do.

"low stakes" in my area is 1/3 with a $5 rock

You show as being in Oyster Bay, NY so out on LI. Is this where you would be playing? Know the law for NY - Stay away from games that imposes a rake/fee/"tip".

Follow the Facebook group called Poker Players Looking for Local Games. Post where you and what you're looking for and someone might DM you. I don't use any other social media but instagram might also be a resource.

Look for local pub poker games - these will be tournaments but you might catch wind of private cash games. Don't shy away from tournaments to meet other poker players who might know someone who knows someone.

That's pretty normal. Game runners aren't making money off smaller games. Makes no sense to run smaller. Sometimes you get lucky and find a 1/1 game, but even that is really a 1/2 game because of frequent straddles.
