Looking at possibly buying a set of the Dunes replicas (2 Viewers)

I am curious if anyone has experience with these replica chips from apache poker. I really enjoy the look and color of these chips just don't know if they are a qualitiy chip and worth the $0.55 price they are listed at? https://www.apachepokerchips.com/product/dunes-clay-poker-chips/

They're what is known as China Clay. They're a step or three above Dice chips, but not really Clay, and many would say that they aren't "quality". But they do target the budget market, much the same as the Royal Card Room China Clays and the Tina ceramics, and as such are a valid option.

You might consider that many members here spend $6-10 per chip (or more), so their perspective of quality and value is probably different than yours. As to whether they are worth $0.55 per chip, that's really a decision that only you can make. I will say that they are comparably priced with other China Clay chips. If they fit your budget, and you like the look and feel of them, then they will probably be just fine. And Apache is a reputable vendor with good customer service (in my experience).

But the standard recommendation is to get samples of different options before you decide.

I think the Dunes commemoratives are pretty decent. Slightly better than Tina’s, imo.

China clays and ceramics are kind of both in the mid-tier. They are better than sluggos for sure. Ceramics are hard and clacky. China clays are the closest to clay you can get without going into the $2/chip+ route. The feel kind of chalky and do wear down over time. Unlike ceramics that can be thrown off buildings and be just fine, China clays can be snapped in half with a bare hand (with intentional effort). I really like both. Get samples.

Order samples! But they're definitely good chips. They're not Paulson/CPC, but they're a good option if you don't want to spend a lot of money and can find the perfect breakdown right away, without buying hundreds of them...
