Hello fellow poker fans, im new to the forum but have been around the world of poker for many many years. Ive been a casino poker player from the start and have now decided to start up doing my own personal games with friends and people who work for/with me. That being said, i have no idea where to start when it comes to buying chips. Ive only ever experienced casino grade chips, which i would assume would be the top tier? So ive done a lot of reading and found that there is a whole world of poker chips that i didnt know existed, clay, clay composite, ceramic, ABS, slugs, no slugs, the list goes on and on. So im wanting to know what are some of my best options. I dont want to go super cheap with this but i also dont want to spend thousands on a set of 1000-1500 chips. So ideally something in the middle that is good quality that can withstand some play time and wont wear a ton. As far as material, not really sure there either, ive seen positives and negatives to pretty much every material chips are made of, but suggestions on that are for sure welcomed. Thank you in advance.

Then I would get samples of things you may think are interesting, figure out your budget and the stakes you're playing at.

If you're okay with spending a few hundred, I'd suggest looking into ceramics. They're durable and cheap, and you can get customs super cheap (relative to other custom chips) from the cards molds GBs that occasionally happen.

Thank you. Yeah just starting out the most id want to spend is 1k, anything over that is probably just not worth it for just starting out in my opinion, eventually down the road sure ill splurge and hit up classic poker chips website, ive heard most consider them to be god tier for chips. But thank you, i will check out those posts for sure.

I used my custom chipco chips (ceramics) for well over 15 years. They held up great. Ceramics are fully customizable too. Brpropoker even has 43 mm chips in case u want bigger chips for the higher denominations. If u don’t want to spend “Paulson” money then this is the way to go.

I was actually going to make another post later on asking about ChipCo, I dont think theyre still in business. Their website, every product you go to has "no products available" on it. Theres no, we'll restock soon, temporarily shutdown for X reason tags or anything.

I don’t think u can get custom chipco chips anymore, but brpropoker makes great ceramic chips and they are a vendor here. Lots of members have ceramics from them. Fully customizable and the turn around time is relatively short.

Yeah i dont think you can get chips from them at all, not even accessories. Ive been scrolling through brpropoker though and im liking a lot of the stock sets they have, i think i may have found my website haha

Not sure, but BRPro/ABC had Chipco blanks that they were still using for new orders upon request. I know their stock was running thin a few months ago, not sure if any left.

I would say try and go for a used cpc set if one pops up for a good price. If you want new for that price you can go custom ceramic.

Stick around for the Memorial Day ChipRoom sale…casino Paulsons at the best price they’ll ever be.

Yes ceramic chips are the way to go as a beginner. They look great and are customizable.
Yeah so ive seen. I ordered about 7 sample sets this week from BRProPoker lol

You couldn't have picked a better time to join. I suggest throwing caution to the wind and getting whatever you can in the upcoming sale. These don't come around often
