Bought these "possible dig chips" from 1976 from Spinetti's thinking I can clean them up but I didn't try that hard and gave up.

I’m pretty familiar with these chips, I’m usually after them, and don’t mind the CXL mark. They come off easier than most.

It’s the blackish square hits on some of the edges.

I wonder if yours were dug up or not. Maybe the cancellation mark was for those that weren’t buried?

So these were buried and might have more grub, potentially not removable? I was worried about how clean these could get but after seeing your work, it looks nice!

I gave them a light scuff with a 3M sponge, you can’t even tell afterwards.
