Hello fellow Canadian plebs,
I've been looking for a quality budget set of poker chips for what must be 6-7 years. Once or twice a year I check out YouTube and watch all of hobbyphilic videos to see if I missed something and if my tastes have changed. I have bought many many sample sets and was not happy with any. Unfortunately I don't make a lot of money and I couldn't follow the enthusiasts here about group buys, imports etc. I am in Canada, our dollar sucks. And I have only limited amount of those sucky dollars. I have always eyed the Laurel crown set, but I had a sample set of scrolls that I very much disliked. But finally one night I snapped and was like "I am tired of searching" and I realized that a 300 set or crowns would be around $200 cad shipping and tax included so I pulled the plug and I am so glad I did. Such a beautiful set and they feel amazing. The feel is incredible. I have heard of people having some problems with off-centre printing etc but mine are prestine. Shuffle feels great, the weight is really nice. I like the art (I was always interested in a EPT set if ever I found one at discount)
I picked up a T25 set and I adore it. Played heads up and three hand already and people like them.
So if you have been looking at MRC poker or Straight Poker Supplies, or Amazon for a set and you are an enthusiast but a poor Canadian. I strongly recommend you buying a sample set of these. Or even a roll of 25 and try them out. I like the tournament colours more than the regular 1,5,25,100 set.
* Make sure you don't depend on the cards that come with the set as they are only useful for kindling.
