4 of a Kind
I guess I should have created a project thread for this a while ago, but, meh. Anyway, I'm pretty far along with this one so it shouldn't be too long before I can post some fantastic pictures of the entire completed set. For now, just some documentation on progress and details.
This party got started in earnest when I won the right to purchase 2 racks of $1s from @FDLmold: https://www.pokerchipforum.com/thre...-paulson-thc-set-499-chips.64172/post-1270596
Then, I was able to work out a trade with @SpaceMonkey420 and @FortyMorty a while back for 2 additional racks of $1s. Now we're cookin'.
I tried and tried to build a mixed set with these as the cornerstone but ultimately the edge spots made it difficult to find anything I was satisfied with, so these 4 racks stayed in solitude for quite some time. Then, I miraculously got my hands on a rack of blaze orange solids and was able to acquire a second rack from @BamaT8ter (great guy, I don't care what anyone says ). I had those two racks milled by some angry member and I had the makings of a Riffles set (the original Riffle quarters are blaze orange solids).
At the time, I'm not sure anyone on the forum had seen a Riffle Steins $5 chip so I set out to find a replacement which was available in quantity. Snagged 2 racks of Casino Royale $1 from @BearMetal and 2 more racks from a @Gear sale. Bingo, bango, bongo.
Following in the cali theme I decided on a purple $25 and there were not many chips which made sense that I could get my hands on. I ended up going with the CdM $50 base chip (also Le Cove frac and HSG $50).
Pieced together a rack of these, also replacing any Le Cove fracs along the way with CdMs and HSGs to make sure they're all the lighter versions. I slowly put together a barrel of Grand Casino Gulfport $1s for my cali $100 and once we get labels for the quarters and everything else goes through manual label replacement, the set should look like this:
I've got some black solids that I'll be using as show'em chips and I once again recreated the inlay art to reuse on cut cards and dice, thanks to @LeGold:
