Checking in from Huntsville, AL. I had no idea poker chips had such a following, but I’m glad I found this forum. I’ve dabbled in poker from time to time, but kind of got the bug lately. At least enough that I want to be able to respectively host games.

Here’s what I’ve learned so far:
• I want a Barrington table with a custom topper or two.
• .25, $1, and $5 for a buy in of $50 or less. This is the way. No need for .50 and $2.
• Denominations are my friend

What basics did I miss?

If your budget is a few hundred, look in the vendor section for broken Arrow and check out the Tina hybrids.

You missed plastic cards. Broken Arrow also has reasonable setups.

You'll probably need some $25 (or $20 if you prefer) denominations for rebuys. Research chip breakdowns here and plan for 3 buy ins for each person.

Huntsville! I love your “purple cup” system!
And the Trash Pandas!

Welcome to PCF!

Things I've also picked up from the forum.

Generally, 100x fracs (25c in your case) is enough for one table.

Again, generally, 5000x big blinds to determine a bank that you'll need to cover nearly all your games.

Given the stakes of the game, your set only really needs four denominations at most assuming proper set breakdown.

Thanks for the feedback. I have seen something on the blinds but what is the standard they should be? Or is it buy in should be 10x the big blind?

Hello from another huntsvillian - I have an extra Barrington topper I should be able to give you at my cost from a recent group buy (and save you 90 days of lead time). Definitely up for a game in the future if you put something together!
