Interest in a Strategy group chat for those playing $500-$1500+ buy-ins (Cash + Tournaments)? (1 Viewer)

playing optimally should perhaps be the goal here, 150+bb at whatever ur comfort level is. that can be .25-.50, it should be a similar baseline to any stakes. Also tourney strat is going to be way different since both optimal and exploitative are under very different conditions.

If you’re playing 10k tournaments and consider yourself conservative, you must have millions in the bank in poker winnings.

“Anne I was regularly playing 100nl and 200nl online profitably up till black Friday. Whole those games are much harder now, I think being able to beat them then is still fairly equivalent to beating $1/$3 and $2/$5 live in today's environment.”

Not even close IMO. Closer to 5c/10c though depends on the city and depends on what server.

A 1/2nl game online on international servers that’s like any 5/5nl game I’ve ever played in would blow up the wait list and crash the server.

Not saying all live players are shit but even a top online 25/50c nl winner is in all likelihood making a more money than the biggest 5/5nl live winners. 10-20x as many hands an hour, less than half the rake (of which some and usually most is returned in benefits), and no commute time or costs.

I’d participate. I fit into the stakes guideline but don’t play twice weekly. I used to play huge volume online, and played live regularly until covid - the Games I used to play in haven’t started to again efen thofuh the casinos are open. As it turns out old guys are somewhat reluctant to go to casinos during a pandemic.
What I was saying is that beating 100nl and 200nl back in 2008-2009 is a decent barometer to beating 2/5 live nowadays. I've continued to play micros off and on on Bovada and ACR especially over last few years. And I've been profitable up to 50nl, though I only recently started tracking my play again online. I'm beating 10nl for 5bb/100 but only over about 10k hands.

I'm not subscribed to any training sites these days because I don't feel I play enough to warrant it, as my play can be a bit streaky. But I watch/listen to all of Bart's free content, watch a decent amount of PokerGo tourney content, and keep my ears open to GTO related stuff to understand baselines. Though I DO NOT study GTO or use a solver. And I rarely use a HUD when I play. And while 10nl - 50nl are def harder than 100nl and 200nl were 12-15 years ago, I still don't find it that tough even with the minimal amount of work I put in other than listening and watching vlog and Bart content.

I am useless when it comes to PLO though. I just don't enjoy the game.

@Senzrock what is your summer schedule? My wife and I are playing a schedule from June 12th - June 17th including the $1100 MSPT at Venetian. And I'm taking a crack at the $1500 NL 2-7.
I’m flying in for the NL Deepstack bracelet event on June 27th and staying through July 4th. Have two friends flying in to play the main event… it I run good, I will join em!

I can't promise a ton of activity in the group at the start. I'm currently in the process of prepping my home for sale and then after we close we'll need to work on relocating out of state, so a lot on the plate. Plus trying to stay consistent and post a vlog every week so that is a timesink on top of actually playing PLO as well.

Live I played everything from 1/2 through 10/20 PLO and online I regularly play a 3/6 and 5/10 game and sometimes 10/20 when it runs. I still fuckup plenty (my vlog has been helpful in my keeping honest with myself and sharing those fuckups so I can try to avoid them as I continue to progress) but I could always use a few PCF'ers to kick me in the ass and remind me when I fuck something up, and I'll try not to be as stubborn as I have in the past in receiving feedback or differing opinions.

If you allow lurkers, I’d love to watch.

BEAT IT CREEP!

5/10 plo online and above I wouldn’t touch that unless there’s a clear and obvious mark. Not if I had live plo tables available.

The edges are minuscule by comparison if you even have one which is highly questionable for pretty much anyone playing in the tables I see on the international servers considering the ratio of serious grinders to casuals. Ymmv as every server in the us is somewhat different - I’d be interested to see what criteria you use to decide which tables to sit at.

I'm in a private PPPoker club with a high ratio of deep pocketed droolers

Saw a guy play K522 tonight, they can't help themselves

I am currently debating about selling a set and playing the main event this year... I have two people that would stake me 50% but Im a greedy bastard and not sure I can pay out my old man! (seriously He's a prick, love him, but I make the final table IDK if I could deal with it!) Only experience I have on Tournments of this price point is one Monster Stack event at the WSOP, cashed 632 pre covid. Wanted to play in that and the millionaire maker this year and see how I did before I decided on the Main, but my schedule for June is a bitch, and I can make it out for the Main. Just not sure I want to play that without the warm ups. If you do have a group Id be interested

I'd be down to join the group strategy chat as well. I'm mostly a mid stakes player who occasionally plays in some bigger games. I used to make strategy/coaching videos for mixed games at stoxpoker, cardrunners, and pokerstrategy.com. I'm a strong HORSE player. I don't know how good I am at NL, but I can tell you what @kmccormick100 has in every hand. :ROFLMAO:
