In on next secret group buy (2 Viewers)

I am both new to this forum and new to chipping. I have mostly browsed the classifieds and bought a couple items here and there. I have been enjoying my new hobby.

But it was not until I read this thread from beginning to end that I realized what a pack of lunatics I had thrown my lot in with. I mean...you all are waayy out there! ;)

Oh man if you think this thread is good you're going to find some doozies with a little more time.

Your post is like if somebody tells you they just watched the first episode of Breaking Bad and can't wait to watch the next one. I'm reading your post and thinking:

Probably most important is because the statue of limitations hasn't run yet.

More than that, tho, is because if anyone could search Google and attempt the same plan, it probably makes accomplishing a private but less likely... Paulson would get wise pretty quickly.

Lol at using your real name and an identifiable address when running a hustle.

Hmmm... statute of limitations is implying boundaries of legality were crossed. Is that really the situation?

If some entity (law enforcement, lawyers for GPI, etc) were really investigating, wouldn't it just be a matter of time for them to discover the organizer's actual identity? At some point, (payment to GPI (all money transactions are traceable unless someone showed up at GPI with a bag of cash), contact info of overseas point person, shipment address, online footprints, etc, etc), there's real identifiable information somewhere along the chain. To be honest, there's probably info openly available on this forum to find the real identities of people (user names, photos and names from meetup threads, IP addresses, etc).

Perhaps it's a question of whether legal boundaries were really crossed or if GPI feels their business was harmed and if it's worth the legal fees for GPI to pursue individuals. I doubt the amount of money they could squeeze from participants (if GPI has a legit claim and is awarded a decision in civil court) would equal the legal fees they would incur in their pursuit. But who knows, maybe they would pursue it (or are already possibly in the midst of pursuing it). Maybe they want to prove to their casino clients and gaming authorities that they mean business and are willing to pay that price to maintain their reputation on being a secure provider of what is essentially currency. If the posts about GPI being forced to replace WSOP tourney sets due to these buys are actually true, then it appears that GPI has suffered in terms of real monetary consequences and reputational harm.

Not likely -- that would simply be evidence of the failure of their own internal processes to insure uniqueness to their customers.

In any case, the initial burden of proof would be upon GPI to prove that they suffered monetary loss, which is pretty hard to do if they're running at full production capacity (which they probably don't want to even discuss in a legal setting)...

Very valid point.

To pursue a GB/NAGB entity, GPI would have to claim/admit it's security and clients security was compromised. They probably also prefer to sweep it under the carpet...

Possible for new GPI ownership to be willing to make/sell chips to established vendor with previous similar successful relationship i.e. Avalon, Private Card Room etc.?

Here's hoping that they do re-enter the home market at some time. Seems like they've gone in and out of the home market in the past.

If there really are more group buys, put me down for a single chip for my display cases please  $1 or $5 is ideal :D
