Throwing yourself up on the mercy of the court and blaming potato's is a Hail Mary.

There's a whole thread debating whether a hot dog is a sandwich. My username has a potato reference. I'm not sure what the rest of the potato reference is about. Lots of anti-potato sentiment around here lately.
Get baked, tot head.

Something just doesn't add up.. It seems HIGHLY unlikely you have been wondering about custom CPC sets with $4000 budgets with heavy inspiration from Tiger Palace WITHOUT ever seeing the Casa Mangos Sets. It is absolutely one of the most famous custom sets on PCF. So I think you absolutely knew that the CASA MANGOS was infact @Eloe2000's and you straight up ripped another dude's design. This is extremely bad taste and I tried to sympathize with you, but this is just wrong. You can't say you are a graphic designer or creative for that matter, if you basically don't give a flying sausage for creative rights and other artists work.

Pretty big oopsie for someone who is in the design field. Agree he would only post if completely clueless or intentionally trying to start a controversy.

Just curious though, has anyone ever seen someone directly copy the inlay design from a personal custom set before with no permission whatsoever?
@Toby

Sorry to drag you into this but I know it’s happened to you.
I wouldn’t reply though if I was you. Nothing good is going to happen here I am afraid.

Hilarious. 10/10 trolling
Meh, I’d give him a 3/10 at best.

Called out for trolling almost immediately, pictures had low production value, didn’t even bother setting up a second fake account to come in and comment about all the research it had done into IP law and how the first fake account is so great and was doing nothing wrong, there was too much post editing because original posts were not well thought out to begin with, and changing his back story on the fly. Shaky 3/10, maybe even a deuce.

Kid’s gotta put in the effort to get a 10. At least I got a few laughs out of later comments and this thread does raise awareness of the systemic mistreatment of potatoes and potato adjacent members on this site.

If it was a troll, wouldn’t he have used real tiger edge spot designs and colors?

And why would he delete his original post?

I think it was just a newcomer making a mistake. Hell, vendors here sell replica casino chips. VENDORS LOL

Pics aren't Ai. I doubt this is much more than someone excited for there "own project" and wanted to show the hobby, only to find out he knocked on the original owners door during a house party. Sucks, but kinda shocked it's taken this long to happen outside of the Toby situation.

The issue here is the label right, I can't see any fault in someone using a cool color pattern as long as its not labeled with the TP label or on a thc mold.

I feel like if it was just trolling there'd have been more pushback when called out on it. There are plenty of members here who will defend IP theft (at least under certain circumstances... also, I'm not judging. But that's what it is. Everyone has to choose which laws they follow or don't) without it being trolling, I just don't think someone coming in like this and then immediately caving is doing it for the lawls.

I will say the Casa Mango set is one of the things which brought me to PCF. Before I realized they were someone's customs I was hoping to find out how to buy a set for myself. I'm a bit surprised it sounds like nobody's tried ripping them off before now.

He tagged me because I like to rant about stolen IP on chips. But I also like to rant about a double standard at PCF, which you got to see for yourself. Lots of PCFers (maybe even a majority) think that copying another PCFers chip design is an unforgivable offense. I wouldn’t argue with that. But many of those same people are fine with copying a casino’s chips, or just about any other IP in the world.

So if Casa Mango were a real casino, you’d be fine. If it was a pretend casino in a blockbuster movie, you’d be fine. But since Casa Mango is a PCFer’s home game, you’re a villain. Doesn’t make a lot of sense, does it?

I think commercial entities should be treated differently and held to a different standard. I think your point is valid but I don't think everyone should be lumped into the dbl standard column. We don't have to debate the details of your position or mine. I would argue that intent is also one of the finer points.

The site exists so that I and many others can openly share and be a community. This community will not exist if we don't respect each other and their property, IP or physical. You (this is the proverbial you, not specifically you upNdown) laugh, joke, or criticize at those of us who jump to defend others in this community. You can try to hijack the thread with Potatoes or other obnoxious off-topic posts, but don't worry. First, they will come for the trade unionist.

We already have members who won't share photos of sets because of this.

Yet, we all have our level of what we will tolerate.
I think many would view a mistaken $10 credit added to your credit card account differently than a teenage cashier mistakenly giving you $10 extra in change.
I think many PCF’ers draw that line between a retired casino and another member’s customs…both are copying, but the appear on a different level.
Not judging right or wrong, just making the point that people justify them differently.

Edit: Eh, will just let it be and not get into it, but don't think OP is trolling, just a young guy who didn't put his thinking cap on.
