Hypothetical Question (1 Viewer)

If you're going to give someone 50 bucks, its likely your expectation isn't to get a return, 40 times your risk is very generous imo, if they expect more than that, its never going to be enough.

Two grand is nice but it's like tipping a waitress a nickle
I don't think so, and putting the shoe on the other foot, if someone says here's your 50 and 1950 more, I'd be floored, to ask for more would be greedy and rude, and put in question how I value that friendship.

But lets add a little context, if I give you 50 bucks to play at the casino, its yours; If I loan you 50 bucks to go play at the casino and I know that's all your taking, its likely a loan such that I am more likely loaning it to you so that I don't ever have to loan you money again or really be around you as much.

If they are one of my close friends, I'd cut them out 20k. If it's a general friend, 5k.
My answer is exactly this. $20k with not a second thought for close friends and/or family.

$5k for anyone else.

And if I gave $5k and the person was salty about it, it would be the last time they have the pleasure of my acquaintance.
