I did a quick search and didn't see a thread on this topic yet.

I'd like to introduce my new hobby - hydroponic gardening.

I've got a three car garage and only one car, so I've got a little room that I took over for growing an indoor vegetable garden. I hit the ground running, and jumped in feet first.

I've got two full size tomato plants growing in DWC tubs, two cucumber plants in 5 gallon buckets, 12 mason jars, 6 home Depot tubs growing 18 types of lettuce, and two knockoff aero garden growing micro dwarf tomatoes.

I also converted a couple of shelves to start my outdoor plants. Current starting onions and 12 different pepper pants.

Happy to nerd out with any fellow gardeners out there!

following. very cool thank you for sharing. I have no experience at all yet but that could change in the near future eheh

Not quite into Hydroponics just yet… but I am starting indoor farming! Lol

Lesson number 1.to ight… screw those trays! I think I killed a soldier… so sad. First transplant tonight

Couldn’t find pots that would fit in my terrarium so I made my own with drain holes out of painters buckets. As they grow ai plan to switch to grow bags.

Their next house 24 x 24 with a 4”

And I think I am going to go 36” x 36” tent on this batch and skip the big boy (48 x 48)

For the “right light” spider 1000 watt is about $420, and that tent is way overkill for 4 plants!

No Where near enough light in there! lol

BTW Banana and Straw doesn’t mean fruit… but flavor!

We are growing different plants lol! I'm happy to see your progress!

Google "Full Circle" Hydroponics.

I was in this guys house a few years back and he had a Full Circle system running. Fish, Plants, Veggies, Water. Basically, building your own, self reliant, independent eco system. It was amazing. The fish were Tilapia and it was a small system, but was really cool!

Good Luck Craig, cool hobby & absolutely following along .

Edit: Guess it's actually called "Aquaponics" systems combine aquaculture (raising fish) and hydroponics (growing plants without soil) in a symbiotic, recirculating system where fish waste provides nutrients for plants, and plants filter the water for the fish.

It’ll be the most expensive tomatoes you’ll ever eat, but it still feels pretty cool to harvest your own home grown stuff. We used to do tomatoes, cucumbers and a bunch of different chilis when we lived more rural.

Lol. You know that's right. The $1,000 Cherry tomato was delicious  :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:

Very nice! All peppers?
I built it to start chilis that went outside but have used it for herbs once those are out.

One year I went crazy:

24x5 gallon buckets and a cascading setup like the indoor one. Some of those plants were over 6ft tall by the end of the season.

Welcome to my hydroponic garden update. I was away for a few days and came home to considerable growth!

My lettuce is exploding. I'll be cutting some leaves by the end of the week for a mixed green salad.

My micro tomatoes are ripening nicely, almost time to harvest some. My second hydrogarden are all flowering, so I'm looking forward to seeing fruit set soon.

My herbs and mini peppers are starting to show first true leaves. Still misting as roots haven't hit the water yet.

My cucumbers are growing rapidly and one of the plants has 10+ fruits already growing. One is almost ready to be consumed.

And finally my two tomato plants that I can't wait to remove. Still waiting on the pink delicious to blush. If it doesn't by the time I leave for Switzerland I'm counting my loss and scrapping it. The black cherry tomatoes are amazing, and I'm planing two of these outside in the spring.

I love this stuff. I have a Gardyn unit but haven't really used it to it's full potential! Keep the updates coming.

Check out Micro Tom or Laura #5 micro tomatoes - you can grow four plants,.one in each corner and have scads of mini Cherry tomatoes.

Or grow Basil - it explodes in the countertop hydroponic systems.

The important thing is not to plant all 10-12 pods. You'll crowd everything out. 4-6 plants max. Give them space.

I'm doing 14 pepper plants this spring. I've started them already. Mostly sweet and frying peppers, but I threw in a couple of habanero plants for making some pickled jalapenos with habanero. Not hydroponics, but they will go outside in 7, 10, and 15 gallon grow bags.

My kid got me a gardener hat for Christmas and I had to put it on for my garage harvest for today.

My first ever full size tomatoes. There were four, but one got eaten before I could photograph it.
