Nice chips! Would you mind posting a few more pictures from different angles?

It may just be the lighting, but it looks Ike the colors are off on some of the chips. Are my eyes just seeing things?
I have added some additional images.

By my estimation, these chips need some TLC still.

IIRC, these came out of oil barrels prior to Jim’s sale and they had some “orange substance” on them.

I hope I’m not off on my assessment. I can see that orangey glow in the pics. I’m sure @DuffCal will put me in my place. Just trying to help answer the question.

I even found this same “orange substance” by cleaning my MINT HSI sec $5, and I found it on mint HSI sec $25 too. It wasn’t visible on the chips at a glance like these Snappers, but it was on the $5s and $25s. Had to work it off but the tag turned orange.

Anyways, great chips, not beyond repair as many peeps were able to bring em back to life

Happy bidding! GLWA!

You nailed it! They have that "orange substance" on them and I never attempted to clean them.

Good luck on the auction!

Either I brutally overbid for these in a weak market, or nobody wants them.

I really just bid blindly. Hahahahah!

I’ll PM ya later tonight or first thing tomorrow. I will be using a USA address.

Is there anyone out there who reconditioned these?

Please let me know any tips, or chemicals you were able to successfully use. I think I have got my work cut out for me, but I will attempt this. I’ve won the auction so I’m “up shit creek without a paddle” .

I don’t own a sonic wash so that is not an option. Or will I have to buy a sonic washer? I’m hoping any of you that may come across this post will share your experience with the dreaded

“Orange substance from HSI oil barrel chips”

Appreciate any help on the matter

Hey Nav, I know some folks had some success with an ultrasonic... I cleaned (iirc) 2 racks for someone it took alot of elbow grease along with a light oxiclean and laundry detergent bath to get that orange crud off. I also had to flatten both racks. Hope this helps

Well,

In the interest of fairness and transparency, the user @TheJestyr reached out kindly offered to buy the chips.

I was unsure about being able to follow through with the clean up, plus I acquired other amazing pink snappers that are murdered, so it saved these from murder. I’d 100% have murdered these HSI.

Just wanted to state I let @TheJestyr take the chips.

I’m not refusing to pay. I’ll just as quick follow through if @DuffCal isn’t okay with this. My reputation is what it is.

Thanks
