How much would you spend on a chip set? (1 Viewer)

Depends on the manufacturer, but I tend to buy sets with minimum 2000 chips so I can comfortably spread 4+ tables.

I had spent about $11,000 on TRK Rounders before I sold them all to @Seeking Alpha Social Club. This was for 3000+ chips, roughly half that were believed to be in existence.

I dropped about $4,000 for a custom CPC set. This was just for solids.

I spent $2500 on a 43mm Sunfly hybrids set

For most of my chipco sets, I seldom spend more than $300-$400.

~$1,600 USD for 650 CPC’s is hopefully my all time high. Hard to go higher than that with my current stash (~1450 BCC CDI cash/tourney, 1200 Freddie’s limit cash & 600 Labelled Sheraton roulettes tourney). Funny enough my incoming CPC set is probably equal to the amount of $$ the rest of my sets cost me combined!

I’ve also got access to Twain’s, PCA’s and PNY’s for guests sets.

Probably good for a while I’d say.

You can double that if you buy half as many!
Reality is that I only need like three racks for most of our games. However if it’s under 1000 chips I have a hard time calling it a set
 :ROFLMAO: This is not Tuna’s place! But it’s a close drive to Tuna’s place! :ROFLMAO:

This is Tuna’s place!:tup:View attachment 400416
all those debates about how to store chips, just leave them on the table.

Honestly never thought I’d reach this point, but so far I'm at about $1450 and still iso a rack of $1s.... So, I’ll certainly be over the $2k mark on the Tropicana’s.

Previous max was about $1000 (though never in one lump sum)

You and me are but mere neophytes compared to some of the degenerates on this forum with their $1,000 - $2,000+ / rack insanity.

I've got $5100 into my Jacks.

I don't know if my wife actually knows the full extent of the financial damages. She knows I've spent a lot, but I truly have quite a bit of doubt and regret about this particular set. If I could go back, I'd stop myself from buying this particular set.

I feel I can never get my money back even if I don't use them.

So, it's a loss in my mind. I've spent more than $5000 on dumber more useless crap.

I really don't think of it in terms of "dollars per set", since many of mine have been pieced together rack by rack (and I'm just renting them, anyway).

I think the most I've spent on a single rack was around $1500, although I've had sets where some racks were worth as much as $2500 each. I've plunked down $95/chip for small quantities, and I think the largest single chip expenditure at one time (to date) was around $8600 (but for a crap-load of chips). Biggest single chip set sale was around $11,000.

Most of mine are are 1000+ piece tournament sets, so at today's prices, it's not unusual to spend $3000-$4000 or more on something if it's already put together. Most custom clay sets I've considered buying would also be in that ballpark.

Which chip is worth $95???? I'd like to see that tbh

I bought in during the Chiproom Empress sale back in the day with a set of 500. Since joining here, I've doubled that. So at this point, it's probably worth about 4k or so, but most of that was from the original purchase and then just adding racks every couple months or so...

What does TRK mean? Are these the exact chips from the actual movie?

TRK, or T.R.King, was a chip manufacturer in days gone by. I believe they are distinguished by their Small Crown (or Scrown) mold casino chips. A modern version of the Scrown mold is now available from CPC.

The Rounders movie chips were done on an old ASM mold called the Roman Mold. The ones that were used in the movie, or at least created under direction of the prop department, do exist, is in someone's hands, and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Wow, you're saying someone out there has a full set as was used in the actual movie? I know the Roman mold is retired now, Adam Savage has the only large set of Rounders Roman Molds i've seen (but still not exactly like the movie).

How much do you think an authentic set of 500 as used in the movie rounders chips would go for? I'd say probably $50,000 since they are so rare

Nonsense.

The Jack's, especially the tournament denoms, are still in very high demand. You'd get your money back (and then some if you wanted to)
