How does one get informed of casinos selling off their chips? (1 Viewer)

By the way, that raises an interesting question - who owns those chips? The Rio, or the WSOP? And does one need permission from the other before disposing of them or selling them or whatever? I'm guessing, from recent @TheChipRoom sales that included chips for WSOP circuit events, that the Rio owns them and can do whatever they want with them (at least whateve NV law allows) but who knows?

I would assume Harrahs owns all of them. When they can make money in states that allow sales they will sell them.

Go to the casino, give them money, they give you chips, walk out door.
I've always wanted to do that. Maybe buy a barrel or rack of white chips and stack them up and shuffle them for my pleasure.
Just didn't know if that's allowed.

People here make a business of that - buying chips from Vegas casinos and reselling them here, for a profit.
Is it allowed? Seems to be.
They know people are gonna take home $1 chips as souvenirs. Do they want one guy taking home a hundred of them? I dunno. But I’ve never heard of anybody being stopped on his way out the door. I do remember one guy being stopped and told he couldn’t walk out the door with the racks that were holding the chips. But never the chips.

Thanks for the response. They opened a casino near me and everyday I say I'm gonna go buy a hundred white chips but still haven't. I won't take the rack. I just want the chips. It opened a yr ago so I was hoping the chips still seem minty. Nice square edges

See them selling chips in the gift shop and ask if they have any more…

It's amazing to me how much people think they know about my business. I'll give you one example. We have spent over $56,000 in legal fees in Nevada alone and have never been allowed to purchase a single chip. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.
@Windwalker can you hep a brother out he needs some Cash for legal fees haha golden ticket could be yours lol.

How hard is it to get a chip shredding business going in Nevada? I have a tree trimming business and a pretty big chipper ! I’m sure you could sway the on-site overseeer ! If not price for nv chips could warrant the prosecution of kindnappong for a few hrs or a good 7-11 sushi lunch hahah
