How can I artificially age a Paulson? (1 Viewer)

Uggh...I was thinking the same thing. WTF!?!? Lots of casino warn Paulson's already available. Not enough nice minty ones...

Oh my god. People are having a discussion about tossing paulsons in a rock tumbler, AND THEY'RE BEING SERIOUS?!?

To be fair, I'm not doing it to all of the Paulsons out there. I was just interested in doing it to 1-200 of them that I was going to keep forever anyway.

In all likelihood, I won't be doing it at all since the risk/reward of trying different methods to get these to match the conditions of my set will make it not worth it.

Also, to be fair to you guys, I was technically warned by a member here that posting this question might illicit some backlash from the community. But that's ok, I still wanted to ask. :)

Like I said, I might just keep these chips in the condition they already are and let the natural erosion process take over from shuffling.

Sorry if this upset anyone.

I have used a harbor freight tumbler on Paulsons and china clays. I was extremely disapointed when all colors of CPS were not the same thickness. I put about 50 in the barrel at a time with nothing else and just checked every 30 minutes until they matched the others. I believe is was the 25k and 500 chips.
I tried some mint Paulsons (secondary PCA $1) just to see if I could get them to the slightly use softer feeling place and the first 50 turned out how I feel a perfect used Paulson feels. When doing the second 50 I had to go take care of a work emergency and by the time I got back they were way too worn. I only did one rack and these were the days when new casinos were going down like crazy. So basically it does work but you really need to keep watch or you can easily wear them down too much.

I see this is an old post, but I stumbled on the easy way to do this, in case anyone is still looking for an answer. Requires no fancy equipment. Basically the same as the pillowcase a couple people mentioned, but maybe a little easier.

Put them in the middle of a bath towel. Probably you'll need at least a couple barrels. Hold the two closest corners on the left side of the towel in your left hand, the two closest corners on the right side of the towel in your right hand. If you now lift the towel up, it will form a sling or hammock shape, and the chips will slump to the bottom.
Now simply raise the right side of the towel and lower the left side. The chips will tumble down towards your left hand. Then raise the left side and lower the right to reverse the process. They will tumble themselves against each other, which does a pretty good job of wearing the edges. It won't take more than 20 reps or so to make a noticeable difference. It's essentially like a rock tumbler. I'm sure if you wanted you could even get some tumbling medium in there with them (driveway gravel?).

I also discovered that this is a very efficient way to get chips dry after washing them. If you want to ruin them at the same time, that is...

I like casino used chips just as much as anyone. In fact my Tropicana set is over 100 peices of casino used, buttery goodness! I aslo have some old vergas chips that are mint to near mint condition but I would never try to get them to the same shape as my trops. In fact I traded a mint barrel for a slightly casino used because I wanted some that would match the rest of the rack. I love each of the chip sets I have ranging from Casino worn to Mint - never played and would only let the shape of each change through regular home game play.

So now I will ask thet everyone that has posted about how they age Paulson chips should just package them up and send them to me!!! PM me for address!

Do we really need to promote ways to f-up chips. :(

This thread needs to die. Mods, lock it up before anyone else gets any bad ideas from it. (n)

I opened this thread and to this day have not tried any of the methods here. Basically, I had some pink paulson solids that were in way better shape than my Lucky Derby 1s that I used as quarters and I entertained the idea of making them a little more worn.

I am sorry that I have brought distress to the forum. I promise that the only way I age chips is through periodic shuffling as I love to shuffle them all day long.

We can close this thread

Glue sheets of sandpaper to your diningroom table top. Invite your friends over for a poker game. This will also give your cards that desirable Casino worn look.

You might try putting them in a spaceship and then travel near the speed of light.
Or maybe I have my facts backwards. I don't know; I failed psychology.
I think it requires near infinite bankroll as you approach speed of light.

Surreal thread. Luckily those nice sharp pink Paulson hotstamps survived this nightmare.
